An aging ruler, an oppressive police state, a restless polarized people seething with paranoia: it's a dangerous time for poets. Two of them - the great Kit Marlowe and the up-and-comer Will Shakespeare - meet to collaborate on a history play cycle, navigate the perils of art under a totalitarian regime, and flirt like young men with everything to lose. One may well be the death of the other.
Austin Playhouse has announced single tickets are now on sale for the remaining three 2023-2024 Season productions and the Spring Cabaret with cast and creatives announced for the Austin premiere of Born With Teeth.
Austin Playhouse 2023-2024 Season will include an Austin premiere, two regional premieres, a return favorite, and an uplifting musical.
Austin Playhouse is at 405 W 22nd St, Austin.
Austin Playhouse is a professional regional theatre, founded in August of 2000. Over fifty of Austin's leading theatre artists, administrators, and volunteers who had worked with Producing Artistic Director Don Toner to build Austin’s State Theatre Company into one of the city’s leading arts organizations, joined him in creating this new professional theatre for Austin. On November 27, 2000 Austin Playhouse was granted 501(c)(3) status by the Internal Revenue Service.
