Works & Process announces Bart Friedman has stepped down as Chair of Works & Process, a role he has held since 2008, becoming Chair Emeritus, with Stephen Kroll Reidy succeeding him as Chair.

The producer Larry Klein honored the memory of Leonard Cohen with a 2022 tribute album that had a hushed sensibility and taste, as well as an impressive array of vocalists. Hoping to continue that feel, he began work on an equally fine performance version with the same title, “This is Now: A Tribute to Leonard Cohen,” which played two nights with the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center over the weekend.

Joe Tracz, writer of Be More Chill and The Lightning Thief musical, has joined the second season of the Netflix series One Piece. Tracz will be working with Matt Owens, co-showrunner and writer of Season 1, as writer, executive producer and co-showrunner. Tracz previously worked with Netflix as a writer and producer on Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events and Dash & Lily. Most recently, Tracz worked as a writer for the Disney+ adaptation of Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

The inaugural South Star Festival at John Hunt Park will be taking place this September. The Park Theatre will screen a masterpiece of 1960s French film this Friday, April 26 at 7pm. Le Samouraï was first released in 1967 to widespread acclaim. The film has undergone a total 4K restoration.

The Orpheum Theatre Group has announced that the annual Orpheum High School Musical Theatre Awards (HSMTA) will take place on Thursday, May 23 at 7pm at the Orpheum Theatre. Students and supporters from 50 participating schools across the Mid-South will gather at the Orpheum Theatre to celebrate the 15th annual High School Musical Theatre Awards.
