Auditorium Theatre And American Ballet Theatre Announce Partnership


Auditorium Theatre Chief Executive Officer Tania Castroverde Moskalenko, American Ballet Theatre (ABT) Executive Director Kara Medoff Barnett, and ABT Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie announced a four-year partnership between the two institutions, beginning with the already announced engagement of Whipped Cream in April of 2019 and continuing with engagements each spring through 2022.

Miami City Ballet Appoints Tania Castroverde Moskalenko as its New Executive Director


Miami City Ballet today announced the appointment of Tania Castroverde Moskalenko as the ballet company's new Executive Director. The appointment was made after an extensive, six-month international search. Castroverde Moskalenko, who returns to the city where she immigrated with her family 30 years ago as a political refugee from Cuba, will assume the leadership role alongside City Ballet Artistic Director Lourdes Lopez on August 7, 2018. As Executive Director, she will lead the company's institutional strategy, fundraising, and operations, building upon City Ballet's achievements as it advances its vision for the future.

Auditorium Theatre to Undergo Leadership Change


John Svoboda, Chairman of the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University's Board of Directors, has announced that CEO Tania Castroverde Moskalenko will be departing the organization at the end of July to join Miami City Ballet as its Executive Director. She will remain on the theatre's Board of Directors until a new CEO is in place. 

Hearts To Art Camp Returns To The Auditorium Theatre For The 14th Summer


The Auditorium Theatre hosts Hearts to Art, a summer camp for young people who have experienced the death of a parent, for two sessions in 2018 (July 9-20 for campers ages 7-10 and July 23-August 3 for campers ages 11-14). At this award-winning summer camp, young people come together to heal, cope, and unite through the power of the performing arts. Hearts to Art has an annual theme each year, and for 2018, the theme is 'home.' Campers will explore how the concept of home can mean something different to everyone and how the idea of home may be affected by change and loss.

On January 13 and 14, 2018, the Auditorium Theatre presents the 13th annual performance of Too Hot to Handel: The Jazz-Gospel Messiah. Traditionally held on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day weekend, Too Hot celebrates Dr. King's message of 'beloved community.' The show features acclaimed soloists Rodrick Dixon, Alfreda Burke, and Karen Marie Richardson; legendary Detroit pianist Alvin Waddles; a choir of over 100 members led by Bill Fraher, director of concert choirs at Old St. Patrick's Church; a chamber orchestra conducted by Suzanne Mallare Acton, the assistant music director at Michigan Opera Theatre in Detroit, MI; and a world-class jazz band featuring electric bass, electric guitar, string bass, and more. Too Hot, which was originally conceived by conductor Marin Alsop and arranged by Bob Christianson and Gary Anderson, puts a twist on George Frideric Handel's classic oratorio, infusing the music with jazz, gospel, rock, and blues.

Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo Brings THE SLEEPING BEAUTY (LA BELLE) to the Auditorium Theatre


Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo, the national ballet company of Monaco, comes to the Auditorium Theatre for the first time March 3 and 4 with The Sleeping Beauty (La Belle), a spellbinding re-imagining of the classic fairy tale. The company, established in 1985 by Caroline, Princess of Hanover, honors the dance history of Monaco begun by Sergei Diaghilev and the Ballet Russes in the early 1900s.
