This March, Miami City Ballet will once again take the ballet outdoors and into vibrant Florida neighborhoods to celebrate the diverse communities that make South Florida a culturally rich, global destination.

Miami City Ballet, one of the nation's leading ballet companies, today announced the appointment of Monica Stephenson as its new Director of Community Engagement, who will join in January 2022.

The anticipated return to the stage is marked by what will be one of the most talked-about productions of the entire season - the North American premiere of Alexei Ratmansky's spellbinding Swan Lake.

Miami City Ballet (MCB) welcomes nine new dancers to the company, bringing this season's roster to 53. Under the artistic leadership of Lourdes Lopez and with a growing repertoire of over 130 works that honor the masters while opening pathways for emerging choreographers, MCB is one of the most celebrated and critically acclaimed ballet companies in the country.

Miami City Ballet will present George Balanchine's The Nutcracker in the Park, live before an audience in the outdoor splendor of Downtown Doral Park. The innovative multimedia production which uses animation, projection, video and live sequences, also takes COVID-19 precautions into careful consideration.

American Ballet Theatre (ABT), America's National Ballet Company, brings the Chicago premiere of its new story ballet Whipped Cream to the Auditorium Theatre April 11-14. Whipped Cream features choreography by ABT Artist in Residence Alexei Ratmansky, sensational sets and stunning costumes by pop-surrealist artist Mark Ryden, and a revived 1924 score by composer Richard Strauss (performed by the Chicago Philharmonic).

Miami City Ballet opens its 2019-2020 season on October 18, 2019, with 16 weeks of performances across Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, and West Palm Beach through April 26. Auditorium Theatre Chief Executive Officer Tania Castroverde Moskalenko, American Ballet Theatre (ABT) Executive Director Kara Medoff Barnett, and ABT Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie announced a four-year partnership between the two institutions, beginning with the already announced engagement of Whipped Cream in April of 2019 and continuing with engagements each spring through 2022.

Miami City Ballet today announced the appointment of Tania Castroverde Moskalenko as the ballet company's new Executive Director. The appointment was made after an extensive, six-month international search. Castroverde Moskalenko, who returns to the city where she immigrated with her family 30 years ago as a political refugee from Cuba, will assume the leadership role alongside City Ballet Artistic Director Lourdes Lopez on August 7, 2018. As Executive Director, she will lead the company's institutional strategy, fundraising, and operations, building upon City Ballet's achievements as it advances its vision for the future.

John Svoboda, Chairman of the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University's Board of Directors, has announced that CEO Tania Castroverde Moskalenko will be departing the organization at the end of July to join Miami City Ballet as its Executive Director. She will remain on the theatre's Board of Directors until a new CEO is in place. 

The Auditorium Theatre hosts Hearts to Art, a summer camp for young people who have experienced the death of a parent, for two sessions in 2018 (July 9-20 for campers ages 7-10 and July 23-August 3 for campers ages 11-14). At this award-winning summer camp, young people come together to heal, cope, and unite through the power of the performing arts. Hearts to Art has an annual theme each year, and for 2018, the theme is 'home.' Campers will explore how the concept of home can mean something different to everyone and how the idea of home may be affected by change and loss. 

The Auditorium Theatre Auxiliary Board, a diverse group of individuals committed to furthering the mission of the Auditorium, hosts The Devil's Ball: The Stage Is Yours on Saturday, June 23. This special event is held right on the theatre's iconic stage where lauded performers like Prince, Chance the Rapper, and Bruce Springsteen have all stood, giving party-goers the chance to experience the legendary theatre as they've never seen it before.

Ballet Nacional de Cuba returns to Chicago for the first time in 15 years May 18-20 with company director Alicia Alonso's acclaimed version of Don Quixote, accompanied by the Chicago Philharmonic.

The Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University has been awarded a $425,000 grant from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. The five-year grant will help strengthen the theatre's diverse programming, extend community outreach and education efforts, and support restoration and preservation initiatives.

Traditionally held on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day weekend, Too Hot celebrates Dr. King's message of 'beloved community.' The show features acclaimed soloists Rodrick Dixon, Alfreda Burke, and Karen Marie Richardson; legendary Detroit pianist Alvin Waddles; a choir of over 100 members led by Bill Fraher, director of concert choirs at Old St. Patrick's Church; a chamber orchestra conducted by Suzanne Mallare Acton, the assistant music director at Michigan Opera Theatre in Detroit, MI; and a world-class jazz band featuring electric bass, electric guitar, string bass, and more. Too Hot, which was originally conceived by conductor Marin Alsop and arranged by Bob Christianson and Gary Anderson, puts a twist on George Frideric Handel's classic oratorio, infusing the music with jazz, gospel, rock, and blues.

Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo, the national ballet company of Monaco, comes to the Auditorium Theatre for the first time March 3 and 4 with The Sleeping Beauty (La Belle), a spellbinding re-imagining of the classic fairy tale. The company, established in 1985 by Caroline, Princess of Hanover, honors the dance history of Monaco begun by Sergei Diaghilev and the Ballet Russes in the early 1900s.
