Legendary Cuban trumpeter Arturo Sandoval, 2013 recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, brings the ultimate Latin Jazz party into homes. In this upbeat and melodious concert “Arturo Sandoval Live from The Broad Stage,” Sandoval and his exemplary band perform 60 minutes of original compositions and inspired covers that will get audiences on their feet and swaying to the beat.

On Sunday June 30 jazzpop singer Jane Monheit appeared at Feinstein's Upstairs at Vitello's for an evening, not devoted to any theme or specific composer, but to render an array of her favorite songs. She explained that turning 40 has allowed her the freedom to stretch and perfom in unchartered territory like in musical theatre, different from her usual jazz and pop programs. It's a form of growth for this extraordinary singer.

Arturo Sandoval is best known as a Latin trumpeter. But at their San Diego Bayside Jazz performance, his sextet displayed exceptional versatility. At tempos from ballad-slow to escape velocity, they rocked the waterfront with Latin, bop, funk and even a little metal rock. Sandoval, in addition to trumpet, played flugelhorn, keyboards, and timbales, with a few vocals and a lot of clowning around thrown in.

The 2017/18 season of world-class dance, music and theater continues as the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts (The Wallis) presents its third annual Winter @ The Wallis series. This year, Winter @ The Wallis programming grows to eighteen events to be performed in the Bram Goldsmith Theater and the intimate Lovelace Studio Theater, beginning on Saturday, January 6 with the classical music duo, violinist Sarah Chang and pianist Julio Elizalde.
