Review: OC Welcomes Weekend Holiday Concerts from Megan Hilty and Linda Eder
In December 2023, the OC welcomed back two powerhouse vocalists who each gave their own respective holiday-themed concerts: Broadway fave Megan Hilty at Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa; and recording artist Linda Eder at the Irvine Barclay Theatre. To no one's surprise, both entertained and awed with their spectacular talents.
Sacred Heart University Community Theatre Presents Joan Osborne
On her 10th studio album, the masterful Trouble and Strife, Joan Osborne has issued a clarion call. With stunning vocals, a diverse range of sonics and incisive lyrics, this deeply engaging collection of new original songs is her response to “the crazy, chaotic times we're living in,” she said, and “a recognition of the important role music has to play in this moment. Music has a unique ability to re-energize people and allow us to continue to hang on to that sense of joy of being alive.”
Keith David Comes to the Cotton Club Tonight
For those of you lucky enough to be in New York, actor and singer Keith David will be performing again this week. Tonight, June 25th, Keith will be guest appearing at the Cotton Club in New York for the 37th anniversary of the club's opening. He will be singing a solo tune and a pair of duets with Debbie Sledge. Keith's longtime friend, Frank Owens, will conduct.
Keith David Comes to Carnegie Hall, the Cotton Club, 6/23 & 6/25
For those of you lucky enough to be in New York, actor and singer Keith David will be performing twice next week. He will be at Carnegie Hall on June 23rd for The Black Stars of The Great White Way Broadway Reunion. This will be an all-male tribute that honors a multitude of jazz musicians such as Luis Jordan, Fats Waller, Louis Armstrong, and others. The concert celebrates the artists' successes at Carnegie Hall, Broadway, television, and the international touring circuit, as well as in the recording and film industries. Keith will be doing an excerpt from his portrayal of Paul Robeson.
