On 1/23, at 7:30 pm MT, Bailey and members of the Boulder Philharmonic will premiere the chamber version of the concerto as part of an online event that will be available on demand through February 6. On Sunday, March 28, at 3 pm PT, a performance by Bailey and the Santa Rosa Symphony led by its music director, Francesco Lecce-Chong, will premier.

Giuseppe Verdi Returns to His American Home at Sarasota Opera with His First Great Success, NABUCCO


The last time Sarasota Opera performed Nabucco, the work that solidified Verdi's reputation as an opera composer, was in 1995. The production was part of the company's historic 28-year Verdi Cycle, a feat that made Sarasota Opera the only company in the world to have performed all of Verdi's music. John Fleming of the Tampa Bay Times called the Cycle "One of the most significant achievements in the opera world."

MCANA's Second Annual Best New Opera Award Goes To David Hertzberg's 'The Wake World'


The Music Critics Association of North America (MCANA) is pleased to announce that its second annual award for Best New Opera has been given to composer David Hertzberg for The Wake World, which received its premiere on September 18, 2017, commissioned by Opera Philadelphia in a co-presentation with The Barnes Foundation. The award was created to honor musical and theatrical excellence in a fully staged opera that received its world premiere in North America during the preceding calendar year. The inaugural award went to  Breaking the Waves, composed by Missy Mazzoli with libretto by Royce Vavrek.
