92Y to Feature Some of Broadway's Best New Choreographers This April
92Y shines the spotlight on the world of musical theater dance in Broadway Takes Two, featuring some of the best of a new generation of theater choreographers. Broadway Takes Two includes the work of Justin Boccitto (curator and director), Megan Doyle, Ryan Kasprzak, Jeff Shade and Richard J. Hinds, with performances on April 8, 9 and 10. Each choreographer presents numbers featuring their original choreography — paying homage to such legends as Bob Fosse, Jerome Robbins and Michael Bennett — performed by some of the finest dancers working in New York.

Tony Award winner Gabriel Ebert visited students at Broadway Artists Alliance Alumni Session to share his journey from young actor to Tony Award Winner. Earlier this year, Ebert won the 2013 Tony Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Musical for his portrayal of Mr. Wormwood in Matilda the Musical. Scroll down for photos from the event!
FSPA Students Experience Broadway with Master Classes, NEWSIES and More
Musical theater students from the Franklin School for the Performing Arts (FSPA) traveled to New York City on January 18-21 to hone their craft and take master classes with Broadway artists. The customized weekend program was offered to FSPA by Broadway Artists Alliance (BAA) of New York City. Classes were held at Ripley-Grier Studios, where many Broadway shows audition and rehearse. The memorable weekend featured a performance of Broadway's hit Tony Award-winning musical Newsies, including a special opportunity to meet and talk afterwards with members of the cast. Students also enjoyed a special reception with FSPA alumni currently living and working in New York City.
34th Annual Carbonell Award Nominations Announced
Les Miserables at Actors' Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre in Coral Gables led the pack with a dozen nominations. Broadsword at Miami's Mad Cat Theatre Company and Why Torture is Wrong and the People Who Love Them at Plantation's Mosaic Theatre tied with five nods each as the most recognized plays for the annual honors to be held on Monday, April 12 at 7:30 p.m. in the Amaturo Theater at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale.
34th Annual Carbonell Awards Nominations Announced
2009 could go down as the year of the musical with seven of the top 10 nominated shows edging out the edgier dramas for the 34th annual Carbonell Awards nominations celebrating the best shows and performances in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.
Jeff Shade's 'PLAYGROUND', A New Dance Work Opens 12/4
The JEFF SHADE DANCE PROJECT will present six performances of PLAYGROUND, a world-premiere 80-minute dance-theater piece December 4th, 5th & 6th at Manhattan Movement and Arts Center. Featuring Original Music by Brent Lord, all proceeds from PLAYGROUND will benefit 2 Suicide Prevention Hotlines: The Trevor Project and the Nine Line.
NYMF Announces 2008 'Best of Fest' Award Winners
The New York Musical Theater Festival concluded its fifth season on October 5th having presented 241 performances over the course of 21 days. A record-breaking 25,000 people, selling the festival to 87.5% of capacity, attended the festival. Over 75% of productions had sold-out performances, and 11 productions extended their runs to accommodate demand.

The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) concludes its fifth year which featured 24 full productions, a dance series, a developmental series, concerts and special events tonight 10/5th.
