Virginia Repertory Theatre just opened its 2019-2020 season with the Tony-Award-winning A GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE TO LOVE AND MURDER. Patrons should not be fooled by its title. Wherewith a darker musical massacre, Sweeney Todd, there was gore and the macabre; this sidesplitting bloodbath is perfectly appropriate for most audiences. Propelled by a first-rate cast, murder has never been so clever and entertaining.
Virginia Repertory Theatre announces the opening of A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder on Friday, September 27, 2019 at the November Theatre/Arenstein Stage, 114 West Broad Street. The show will run through Sunday, October 20, 2019. Previews will be on Wednesday, September 25 and Thursday, September 26, 2019.

Plays at The Richmond Triangle Players through the 28th of August, 2018
For the past several years, Virginia Repertory Theatre has produced one world premiere of a new play or musical. Last year's award-winning THE END OF WAR by David L. Robbins was theatre at its very finest, with incredible special effects, set design and a gorgeous book by Robbins. While River Ditty's story could benefit from some tightening, some exceptional performances make this an enjoyable production. Richmond audiences should jump at the opportunity to see yet another fresh new play.
As a part of its New Play Development initiative, Virginia Repertory Theatre, in partnership with Glass Half Full Productions, will present the world premiere of River Ditty by Matthew Mooney Keuter. The show opens in the November Theatre on Friday, April 20th, 2018, and runs through Sunday, May 6th, with two preview performances on Wednesday, April 18th and Thursday, April 19th. Virginia Rep's November Theatre/Arenstein Stage is located at 114 West Broad Street, Richmond VA 23220.
By popular demand, TheatreLAB and Yes, And! Entertainment have announced that their production of Jason Robert Brown's The Last Five Years will now run through October 28th. BroadwayWorld has a look at Richmond Theatre Critics Circle Award winners Alexander Sapp and Christie Jackson in action below!
It is this reviewer's exultant onus to relay that in the case of TheatreLAB and YES, AND's production of THE LAST FIVE YEARS, director Chelsea Burke and her team have pulled out all of the stops to give the audience an unforgettable experience, with the technical follow-through and musical polish to rival any production that has ever been mounted. And these generous qualities are symbiotically aligned with the equally powerful presence of actors Christie Jackson and Alexander Sapp. It's just that freaking good.
