Prepare yourselves for a riotous journey through Stephen Sondheim's comedic masterpiece, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, at the Athens Theatre from March 1st to March 24th. With its uproarious characters, witty banter, and catchy tunes, the show is a whirlwind of mischief and merriment set against the backdrop of ancient Rome.
Our stellar cast includes Noah Clark as Pseudolus (Shrek in Shrek TYA), Christopher de Jongh as Hysterium (most recently Paul Sheldon in Misery), Sheradin Jansen as Philia (Elizabeth in Young Frankenstein, Evelyn Nesbit in Ragtime), Trevor Spence as Hero (Tom Jenkins in Scrooge, Buddy the Elf in Elf), Michael Funaro as Senex (JD in Escape to Margaritaville, Scrooge in Scrooge, The Musical), Christie Young as Domina (Poppy in Noises Off, Frau Blucher in Young Frankenstein, Regina in Rock of Ages), Thomas Muniz as Erronius (Daddy Warbucks in Annie, Col. Mustard in Clue), Danny Sanchez as Marcus Lycus (William Barfee in The 25th Annual…Spelling Bee), and Ryan Blagg as Miles Gloriosus (Igor in Young Frankenstein, Leaf Coneybear in The 25th… Spelling Bee, Mike in White Christmas). With such a constellation of talent, it's truly a cast of colossal proportions!
Directed by Tara Kromer, choreographed by Jacob Eaddy, with costumes by Tamara Marke-Lares and set design by Katy Monthei, this production promises a hilarious spectacle that transcends time. Since 1962, "Forum" has proven itself to be a timeless classic that speaks to the pursuit of love, the quest for freedom, and the absurdities of life.
Join us from March 1st to March 24th for a night of laughter and merriment. Don't miss our opening night champagne toast and special performances: an audio described performance on Sunday, March 10th, and an ASL English interpreted performance on Friday, March 15th. In the riotous realm of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, where schemes intertwine and identities entangle, the unexpected reigns supreme, and laughter echoes through every misadventure!
