XANADU - Forge Theatre

Forge Theatre, located at 241 First Ave. in Phoenixville, is holding open auditions for “Xanadu”. Director Tom Yenchick and musical director Denise Wisneski are seeking a diverse and energetic cast of 9 adults (5 females and 4 males) for this musical comedy. The show runs Sept. 9 to Oct. 2. Auditions will be held on June 5 at 2:00 pm and 6 at 7:00 pm. Rehearsals will be held Sun. afternoons, Mon. and Wed. evening to the end of July then Sun. evenings, Tues. and Thurs. evenings. All role are open. The ability to roller skate is an asset.

In keeping with recommendations by the CDC and following the practices to keep all participants safe, the Board has implemented the following policy: All Volunteers, Actors and Staff must be fully vaccinated and provide proof of vaccination to participate in Forge Theatre auditions, productions and other indoor activities.

Please prepare a 2-minute song that showcases your voice. Bring sheet music, an accompanist will be present. No pre-recorded music please. Cold reading from the script will done.

Xanadu follows the journey of a magical and beautiful Greek muse, Kira, who descends from the heavens of Mount Olympus to Venice Beach, California in 1980 on a quest to inspire a struggling artist, Sonny, to achieve the greatest artistic creation of all time – the first ROLLER DISCO! But, when Kira falls into forbidden love with the mortal Sonny, her jealous sisters take advantage of the situation, and chaos abounds. Based on the Universal Pictures cult classic movie, Xanadu is hilarity on wheels for adults, children and anyone who has ever wanted to feel inspired.
