Important Dates:
Read-through on March 19th
Tech Rehearsal on May 25th & May 26th, with Tech Week to follow May 27th-30th. Memorial Day is on May 27th. Please consider this when auditioning/providing your conflicts.
Strike will be on June 16th.
Actors will be expected to attend several rehearsals a week between the initial Read-through and Tech Week.
You will be able to provide conflicts on the audition form provided at auditions. Conflicts do not necessarily mean you will not be considered, but if you cannot attend a performance, that could impede our ability to cast you.
Auditions:
Sides will be provided upon registration. You should select a side for your audition, but please review any other characters you may be interested in as you may be asked to read for additional roles. You do not need to print or provide the side you have selected, there will be copies of all available at the audition.
Please specify on your audition form if there is a specific role you are interested in and any that you are NOT interested in or willing to play, as multiple roles may be played by the same actor as needed. Indicating a character you are not willing to play will not impact your ability to be cast in a role for which you have auditioned. Please provide a headshot and resume, if you are able.
Callbacks are by invitation only. Casting is expected within 24 hours of callbacks.
Note: We will consider minors as young as 16 for the roles of Evil Gabbi, Evil Tina, Narrator, Farrah the Faerie, Steve, and Chuck for this production. All other actors must be a minimum of 18 to audition.
Each person will be allotted 15 minutes.

SYNOPSIS
She Kills Monsters tells the story of Agnes Evans as she leaves her childhood home in Ohio following the death of her teenage sister, Tilly. However, when Agnes finds Tilly's Dungeons & Dragons notebook, she finds herself catapulted into a journey of discovery and action-packed adventure in the imaginary world that was her sister's refuge. In this high-octane dramatic comedy laden with homicidal fairies, nasty ogres, and 90's pop culture, acclaimed playwright Qui Nguyen offers a heart-pounding homage to the geek and warrior within us all.
CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS (ALL ROLES ARE OPENS):
Agnes Evans
Agnes is as average and normal as they come. She is an English teacher with commitment issues struggling with the loss of her parents and, more importantly, her teenage sister. Between avoiding moving in with her boyfriend and venting to her best friend, Agnes finds the time to hunt down the key to understanding her late sister and unlocks the door to understanding herself.

Tilly Evans/Tillius the Paladin
Agnes's teenage sister who recently died in a car accident. In life, Tilly had a love of all things nerdy/geeky and especially D&D. As a weird teen in Ohio in the early 90's, she had her fair share of secrets about bullies and her sexuality that Agnes uncovers through her alter ego, Tillius the Paladin, the greatest warrior in the land.
Gender: Female-Identifying
Age: The character is 16, and we are looking for actors between the ages of 18-22. This role includes intimacy with another female-identifying character. Please consider this when choosing to audition.
Miles
Agnes's boyfriend who is also struggling with commitment to their relationship. While he doesn't quite understand what Agnes is going through, his love for her and his willingness to dive into something he doesn't understand shows that he is in for the long haul.

Chuck
Teenage comic book shop worker and Dungeon Master. He comes to Agnes's aid in her journey to learn about her sister by running the D&D game that Tilly wrote. He serves as an encyclopedia of D&D and all things nerdy to guide Agnes through the game.

Age: The character is 16, and we are looking for actors between the ages of 16-20.
Vera
High school guidance counselor and Agnes's best friend. She is supportive of Agnes and often counsels her in her relationship with Miles.

Orcas/Ronnie
A demon overlord who operates in the lost soul trade. He rules the Underworld from the comfort of his couch and never misses his shows. Orcas is based on Tilly's classmate Ronnie, who is also Kelly's brother.
Gender: Male-Identifying
Age: The character is 16, and we are looking for actors between the ages of 16-20.
Lilith Morningstar/Lilly
A Demon Queen that resembles a leather-clad dominatrix and is Tilly's girlfriend in the game. Lilith is based on Tilly's high school friend Lilly, who was Tilly's first kiss but is still in the closet.

Kaliope Darkwalker/Kelly
Kaliope is a Dark Elf who has an earthy, analytical air. She is based on Tilly's high school friend Kelly, who is Ronnie's sister.

Narrator
Describes the events in the story and gives background description of the reason behind the story and the characters of Agnes and Tilly. The narrator has a voice that belongs in a high fantasy world and can be serene and deliver all lines with sincerity, regardless of the inherent goofy nature of some of the dialogue.

Steve
In real life, he is one of Tilly's classmates. In the game, he is a mage that usually is on the receiving end of bosses showing how powerful they are, resulting in his death multiple times over. The actor auditioning for this role should be prepared to die. A lot.

Farrah
A fairy and one of the bosses Agnes and her party must face before they can reach the final boss. For this role, we would love to see actors who have a special skill to showcase. Martial arts, dance, fencing, juggling, etc. If you have a special skill of any kind, we would love to see it, as we are hoping to incorporate a special skill into fight choreography.

Evil Gabbi & Evil Tina
Cheerleader succubi that torment Tilly, in particular about her sexuality. They are based on her high school classmates who are quintessential high school bullies. We are looking for people who have dance or strong movement ability for these roles.
