Rounding Third

and

The Music Man

Sunday, March 11 and Monday, March 12, 2012, @ 6:30 – 9:00 pm

All auditions will be held at the Covedale Center for the Performing Arts, 4990 Glenway Avenue in West Price Hill.

For Rounding Third (Showboat Show #4)

Requirements for 2 men: Adults (30 + years of age): MUST HAVE A RESUME listing theatrical experience in order to audition. A headshot/picture is appreciated but not required. Auditionees will be asked to read of the script.

Rounding Third introduces us to two coaches — one a veteran, the other a new recruit — and their markedly different personal circumstances and philosophies about the game. Their clash of styles and wills drives this funny, acerbic and touching play through the bumpy terrain of fatherhood and baseball. Bob Brunner, Director; Romayne Jones, Stage Manager

Rehearsals begin: Monday, July 9, 2012

Performance dates: August 8 – August 26, 2012

All roles are paid positions. No roles have been precast. Characters include:

Don - a coach who believes that winning is what is most important in baseball, and he is all about the game. Don’s kid is the star pitcher of the team.

Michael – Don’s assistant coach, a businessman who believes that kids should have fun when they play baseball. Michael’s kid can barely remember to keep his shoelaces tied.

For The Music Man (The Showboat Show #5 – Season Closer)

Adults (17 + years of age): MUST HAVE A RESUME listing theatrical experience in order to audition. A headshot/picture is appreciated but not required. Auditionees should prepare excerpt (16-32 bars) that best represents his/her voice and bring sheet music for the accompanist in the proper key. No a cappella or recorded music auditions please. Auditionees should also prepare a monologue no more than 90 seconds in length. The monologue should reflect the time and style of the show and the characters in some way (Please no characters/excerpts from The Music Man). Auditionees may be asked to do a dance audition as well. Auditions for adults begin at 8:15pm. Arrive no later than 9 pm to audition. No need for an appointment.

Role for three Children include: AMARYLLIS, GRACIE SHINN and WINTHROP PAROO (age ranges 8 – 13). A headshot/picture is appreciated but not required. Auditionees should prepare excerpt (16-32 bars) that best represents his/her voice and bring sheet music for the accompanist in the proper key. No a cappella or recorded music auditions please.
