All auditions will be held at the Covedale Center for the Performing Arts, 4990 Glenway Avenue in West Price Hill.
For Forever Plaid (Showboat Show #1)
Requirements for 4 men: Adults (19 + years of age): MUST HAVE A RESUME listing theatrical experience in order to audition. A headshot/picture is appreciated but not required. Auditionees will be asked to read from the script and sing a song that best represents his voice in the style of the show and all with be taught a dance combination as well.

This deliciously goofy revue centers on four young, eager male singers killed in a car crash in the 1950's on the way to their first big concert, and now miraculously revived for the posthumous chance to fulfill their dreams and perform the show that never was. Singing in the closest of harmony, squabbling boyishly over the smallest intonations and executing their charmingly outlandish choreography with over-zealous precision, the "Plaids" are a guaranteed smash, with a program of beloved songs and delightful patter that keeps audiences rolling in the aisles when they're not humming along to some of the great nostalgic pop hits of the 1950's. All roles are paid positions. No roles have been precast. Roles include:
Smudge (Bass) The worrier, Smudge worries about the props and the running order and always assumes that the audience won’t like him. He has a chronic nervous stomach and is very reluctant to perform. He is also very clumsy. Smudge never enjoys or appreciates what he has. He always worries about what is coming up and regrets what is past.
Jinx (Tenor) The shy one, Jinx is usually terrified. He doesn’t always remember what songs come next or what the next move is. He is Sparky’s stepbrother and there is a little sibling rivalry going on between them. He occasionally gets a nose bleed when he sings above an A. He lives his life terrified. He was abused and beaten. He is only in the group because he sings the high notes beautifully. The others are very protective of him.
Sparky (Tenor) The “cut-up” of the group, Sparky is always looking for ways to crack jokes. He is very sharp and loves singing his tailor-made solos. He wears a retainer and has a slight speech impediment or lisp. Even though he is energetic and clever, he cares for his stepbrother, Jinx. He sings with a joyous bravura and loves to perform. He loves to tell stories and relishes every word. He is the comic engine of the show.
Francis (Second Tenor-Lyric Baritone) The leader and caretaker of the group, Francis has the most confidence. He takes care of his fellow Plaids and makes sure everyone knows where they’re supposed to be and what is supposed to happen next. He is also the connection between the audience and the guys. He has asthma, which acts up whenever numbers are too fast or the choreography gets too energetic. He has a great deal of compassion for the music and the group.

The Odd Couple June 12 – June 30, 2013

This classic comedy opens as a group of the guys assembled for cards in the apartment of divorced Oscar Madison. And if the mess is any indication, it's no wonder that his wife left him. Late to arrive is Felix Unger who has just been separated from his wife. Fastidious, depressed and none too tense, Felix seems suicidal, but as the action unfolds Oscar becomes the one with murder on his mind when the clean-freak and the slob ultimately decide to room together with hilarious results as The Odd Couple is born. All roles are paid positions. The production is open to non-traditional casting.
Characters include:
Oscar Madison: A slovenly, recently divorced sportswriter.
Felix Unger: A fastidious, hypochondriac news writer whose marriage is ending.
Speed: One of the poker buddies. Gruff and sarcastic, often picking on Vinnie and Murray.
Murray: An
NYPD policeman, one of Oscar and Felix's poker buddies.
Roy: One of the poker buddies. Oscar's accountant. Roy has a dry wit but is less acerbic than Speed.
Vinnie: One of the poker buddies. Vinnie is mild-mannered and henpecked, making him an easy target for Speed's verbal barbs.
Please note: The Roles of Cecily and Gwendolyn Pigeon have been precast. Oscar and Felix's upstairs neighbors, a pair of British sisters. The former is a
divorcée, the latter a
widow.
