BEAUTY AND THE BEAST JR. - Theatre Charlotte Non Equity Auditions

TCjr: Summer Youth Theatre Intensive

Auditions for Theatre Charlotte junior’s summer intensive production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Jr. will be held February 4, 2012, at 10 am. These auditions will be held at Theatre Charlotte, 501 Queens Road, Charlotte, NC.

For 3 weeks participants will work with professional directors, choreographers, designers, technicians and performers experiencing and creating musical theatre. In addition to these professionals, college students studying the performing arts, along with exceptional high school students, will work alongside these young people, sharing their knowledge and experience, rehearsing and performing a professional-level summer stock production to be presented on the Theatre Charlotte stage.

All young people age 9 through 14 are encouraged to audition. Students will be taught a song and a brief dance combination and will read from the script. Everyone should dress appropriately in clothes that you can move comfortably in and shoes that you can dance in—no bare feet, socks, flip flops or sandals.

Approximately 30 students, age 9-14, will be selected to participate. Additional students may be placed on a waitlist should positions open up. Students accepted into the program will need to be available for rehearsals from 9 am until 4 pm, Monday, June 25 through Friday, June 29 and July 2, 3 and 9. Performances will run Tuesday, July 10, through Sunday, July 15. A more detailed schedule will be available at auditions. Participants must be able to attend all rehearsals and performances. The tuition for students age 9-14 is $195.

Emails will be sent to everyone who auditions to let them know whether or not they have been accepted into the program. If not selected at this time, you can request to be placed on a waiting list should an opening occur.

Full tuition ($195) is due prior to March 15, 2012. Partial refunds will be given with written notice of cancellation no later than one month prior to commencement of rehearsals (minus a $25 processing fee.)
