ABOUT THE SHOW

With sass, wit, and a pulsing 1970s score, Applause presents show biz in all its glory and ferocity. The updated musical version of the classic, Oscar-winning film All About Eve has fading Broadway star Margt Channing recounting her experience with an ambitious chorus girl, Eve. It’s the height of the Broadway season in the spring of 1970. Margo Channing is paranoid about aging out of good roles and is determined to win a second Tony Award. She’s set to star in the play she believes will cement her legacy, directed by her fiancé Bill, when she takes fangirl Eve under her wing. Eve quickly becomes Margo’s worst enemy and competition - not just for the role of a lifetime, but for the Tony Award and Bill’s heart. As Margo desperately tries to alert those around her to Eve’s true motives, she’s forced to reconcile with the life she’s lived and the life she has yet to live. Can she find “something greater” than theatrical success?

ABOUT AUDITIONS

Auditions for Applause will be held:

  • Friday, March 15, 7:00-10:00 p.m.

  • Saturday, March 16, 4:00-7:00 p.m.

Callbacks, if needed, will be held Sunday, March 24, 2:00-4:00 p.m.

Actors should come prepared to sing ~32 bars of a musical theater song in the style of the show and to participate in a choreography audition. Please wear appropriate shoes and clothing to dance in.

Sides will be given to actors at the audition.

Choreography auditions will be held during the first and last half hours of auditions (7:00-7:30 p.m. and 9:30-10:00 p.m. on Friday and 4:00-4:30 p.m. and 6:30-7:00 p.m. on Sunday). Actors must participate in one of the two choreography auditions.

Those who arrive at the start of auditions will dance first, then sing/read, after which they’ll be free to go. Those who arrive after the first choreography audition will sing/read first, but will need to stay until the end of the audition time.

Some featured ensemble actors will have the opportunity to serve as additional on-stage musicians during the show. Actors who play musical instruments (reeds, bass, brass or percussion) are encouraged to note this on their audition form.

If you have a headshot and resume, please bring a copy of each with you. If you do not have a headshot, we may ask to take a photo of you at the audition.

This show has a place for performers of all ages and skill levels. If you’re even considering auditioning, we want to see you there!

AVAILABLE ROLES

We are seeking a total cast of thirty-two - eight principal and twenty-four featured ensemble actors - to play ages 21-69. Actors in featured and ensemble roles participate as singers, dancers, dressers, set changers, and/or musicians at various points throughout the show, helping to propel Margo’s memory forward.

All roles are available. If a specific gender identity, age, race, or ethnicity is required/indicated by the script, it has been noted below.
