AUDITION NOTICE
ADVENTURES IN MYTHOLOGY
Plato Academy is currently seeking strong actors/improvisers for an interactive, unscripted, live-action role-playing (LARP) Quest Adventure in our Adventures in Mythology afterschool program.
With classes in over 20 schools schools across Brooklyn and Manhattan, Adventures in Mythology trains young Demigod students how to become Heroes one day a week over a 3 month period, culminating in these epic Quest Adventures.
Prior knowledge about mythology from a variety of cultures (primarily Greek/Roman but also Egyptian, Norse, and others), as well as familiarity with the Rick Riordan novel universe (Percy Jackson, Kane Chronicles, etc.) is preferred, but not required to work with us.
EMPLOYMENT DATES:
Classes are 60 - 90 minutes in length and take place somewhere in the span of 2:00 to 5:00 PM, Monday-Friday

*You are not required to attend every one of these dates. If you are selected as a candidate, we will send an availability form for you to fill out!
COMPENSATION:
This is a paid, non-union opportunity
Pay is a flat rate of $50/class.
CHARACTER BREAKDOWN:
***Save for Pasiphae and Circe, none of these characters are bound to any specifically gendered casting.
CIRCE:
The goddess of Magic and defender of the Fabric of Magic.
She's a scientist and a witch with a Mrs. Frizzle-esque sensibility when it comes to interacting with demigods. She is the hero throughout the school year and in charge of leading the investigation into her siblings' attempts to steal magic.
THESEUS:
A revived hero of the Labyrinth and slayer of the Minotaur
Theseus will guide the demigods and help them on their quest. They is a heroic, if not a little meatheaded, person who believes in doing the right thing. They have lots of experience dealing with Pasiphae, King Minos, and the Minotaur.
PASIPHAE:
Circe's sister and a poison/potion mistress
She spent most of her life either married to a man she didn't love or being ridiculed/demonized over what happened with the Minotaur. She wants a happy ending, just like Circe got and she believes that if she has enough power then she can make the world give her one.
KING/QUEEN MINOS
Pasiphae's husband and a former enemy of Camp Half-Blood/Afterschool
They once tried to take down Camp Half-Blood and the demigods, but now they are just a weak king/queen at the mercy of Pasiphae's poison. They are regretful of the things they did in his past and sees what's happening to themselves as punishment for those deeds.
THE EXPERIMENT
A sad and pained creation of Pasiphae
This former soldier of Crete was brought back from the dead and used by Pasiphae to attempt to recreate her Minotaur through potions and magic. What resulted is a horrible Minotaur-human hybrid.
THE PLAGUE DOCTOR
A mysterious harbinger of chaos and poison
A former ally of Apophis, and now an ally of Pasiphae. The Plague Doctor is a mysterious figure. No one knows who they are, or where they came from. They just know that they are powerful and dangerous. They never speak.
ADDITONAL DETAILS:
We are looking for actors with the following skills:
Strong combat skills (fencing, rapier/dagger, broadsword, quarterstaff, etc),
Fight choreography, martial arts, tumbling/acrobatics, dance, circus skills (juggling, stilts, etc),
Strong improv ability, as these scenes will be UNSCRIPTED
Strong physicality and endurance abilities.
Experience working with ages 7 – 14 a MAJOR plus.
