New Stage Theatre is holding an open audition on Saturday, September 17, to find exceptionally talented kids for its upcoming production
A Christmas Story, The Musical. The theatre is seeking a young boy to play the lead role of Ralphie. The theatre is also seeking young boys and girls to play Ralphie’s friends and classmates, including: Randy, Flick, Schwartz, Scut Farcus, Grover Dill, Mary Beth, and Esther Jane. The auditions will take place at New Stage Theatre, 1100 Carlisle Street; Jackson, MS 39202.
The open call audition is seeking boys and girls ages 8-13 who sing, dance and act. The theatre is looking for children with strong stage presence and a love of theater. No experience is needed to audition.
The audition will be at 9:00 a.m. with registration beginning at 8:45 a.m. Children should bring a recent photo for the theatre to keep. An appointment is not required but space is limited and children will be seen on a first come first served basis and should expect the audition to last until 12:00 p.m.
A Christmas Story, The Musical chronicles young and bespectacled Ralphie Parker as he schemes his way toward the holiday gift of his dreams, an official Red Ryder Carbine-Action 200-Shot Range Model Air Rifle (“You’ll shoot your eye out kid!”). An infamous leg lamp, outrageous pink bunny pajamas, a maniacal department store Santa, and a double-dog-dare to lick a freezing flagpole are just a few of the distractions that stand between Ralphie and his Christmas wish.
New Stage Theatre’s production of
A Christmas Story, The Musicalwill be directed by Turner Crumbley with musical direction by Carol Joy Sparkman and choreography by Tiffany Jefferson.
