One of my favorite musical of all time, give a strong poignant message without being preachy. Broadway could do with a star studded revival?

Broadway could do with a fun & light hearted musical.

You cannot stop the beat!

Honestly I feel like Hairspray, as much as I like it, would feel very dated if they brought it back today.

Give it another 20 years and then let Daniel Fish rip it a part.

That didn't stop Spamalot to be fair.

I love Hairspray but agree. I think it would be tough to re-mount as a revival. I think it's meant to be a popular one for community theaters and cruise ships and the like at this point

The non-equity tour has been hitting every market in the country for the last couple years, can’t say a revival would be necessary at this moment

Give myself another 5-10 years before I feel in the mood sitting through another production. But Hairspray was one of my first musical obsessions. To be exact, the first musical I’ve seen since Wicked ignited my love of musicals!

It’d be nice to see a production that wasn’t just a faded copy of the original staging, I think. A fresh interpretation and fresh slate of design elements would be welcome.

The original Australian production wasn’t a copy of the Broadway show ( that came for the shows 20th anniversary ) that production used video screens etc and sadly palled in comparison to the original staging.

Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist. Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino. This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more. Tazber's: Reply to Is Stephen Schwartz a Practicing Christian

Loved the show and enjoyed the movie of it but don't see the need for a revival at this time.

Well, Heart of Rock and Roll is fun and lighthearted, but not many people seem to be giving it a chance. We'll see what happens with opening tonight**edit: next week-all these openings, I got confused!

They probably could/should have done the opposite of The Wiz - a limited revival followed by a national tour. I think it would have done well for a limited run around reopening, it’s light, and would then continue to do well on the road. I don’t see a stand-alone revival being a big success, especially not right now.

I am big. It’s the REVIVALS that got small.
