At the turn of the 16th century, King Charles VIII of France and the lords of the great Italian city-states vied for military and cultural dominance. Music and ideas flowed across borders and a groundbreaking Italian printer captured it all on paper, beginning with the “Gutenberg Bible of music,” the Harmonice Musices Odhecaton. Piffaro, the Renaissance Band and GRAMMY award-winning tenor James Reese bring to life the clash of arms, the sublime songs, the courtly dances, and one of the most beautiful elegies for a musical master ever written!
Piffaro, The Renaissance Band, will present its season finale, Love, Lust, Life: Ce Moys de May, with the female vocal ensemble Trio Eos, May 10-12 in Philadelphia & Wilmington. Tickets are $29-$49 (youth & full-time students free with ID), and are available at www.piffaro.org or by calling 215-235-8469.
The French (Italian) Connection (3/29/24-4/11/24)
Piffaro, the Renaissance Band is at 2238 Fairmount Ave, Philadelphia, PA.
