Instituto Cervantes of Chicago will present, in collaboration with Water People Theater, the theatrical concert series 'Creating Women' | “Mujeres Creando.” 

Prop Thtr is pleased to announce its 2019-20 Season, kicking off this fall with THE STOREFRONT PROJECT, a unique collaboration with The Museum of Contemporary Art. Six Chicago-based directors (Mikael Burke & April Cleveland, Sydney Chatman, Dado, Coya Paz, Denise Yvette Serna and Lucky Stiff) will each choose a text a?" not written for theater a?" and devise a new project, tailor-made for MCA Chicago and Prop Thtr spaces. Co-curated by MCA's associate curator of performance Tara Aisha Willis and Prop Thtr Artistic Director Olivia Lilley, the shows will be performed at both venues over two weekends.

The Comrades, a non-Equity theatre company, today announced its cast for DEAD MAN'S CELL PHONE, by Wilmette-born Pulitzer Prize finalist Sarah Ruhl. Ruhl's play premiered in 2007 at Washington D.C.'s Woolly Mammoth Theatre and enjoyed high-profile productions the following year at Playwrights Horizons in New York and Steppenwolf in Chicago. In this sometimes-surreal comedy, a young woman annoyedly answers the ringing cell of the man sitting next to her in a cafe, only to find the reason he failed to answer it himself is that he has just died. The woman becomes involved in the dead man's just-departed life and even in his afterlife. The SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE said, "It's a joyride through the absurdity of trying to make simple connections in a world overwhelmed with interconnectivity."

Prop Thtr is pleased launch its 2018-19 season with the world premiere of NEVERLAND, a new devised riff on J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan, devised by The Ensemble and directed by the Prop's new Artistic Director Olivia Lilley.

Nostalgic Horacio drives his restless grandson away with another rambling story from his childhood. Boiling under the surface of a fallen city, two families wrestle with rebellion, regret, and loss of faith.

On the heels of critically-acclaimed sold-out runs at Steppenwolf Theatre Company and The Miracle Center in Logan Square, Teatro Vista's La Havana Madrid by Sandra Delgado arrives at Goodman Theatre for an extended summer run, now through August 20.
