The New York Asian Film Festival ushers in the new decade with the second annual edition of its Winter Showcase. Held at Chelsea's SVA Theatre over Valentine's weekend, this year's showcase celebrates our love of Asian films by turning the spotlight on food cultures through cinema. At a juncture when America still obsesses over Bong Joon-ho's award winning Parasite, and some of its more minute plot points such as the wonders of Ram-Don (jjapaguri), it is timely to show that when it comes to putting food front and center, Asian movies do it best.

Karen Mok's World Tour Sets Sail Again With U.K. Date At The London Palladium


Today, award-winning Chinese actress and singer-songwriter who starred in Disney's Around The World In 80 Days with Jackie Chan, Karen Mok announces that her world tour will continue in 2019 as she brings her truly spectacular show to Europe, including a show at the London Palladium on 15 September. This June, BAM continues two ongoing monthly programs: Screen Epiphanies on Thursday, June 6 with Stephen Chow's Kung Fu Hustle (2004), chosen by comedian Bowen Yang, and Beyond the Canon on Saturday, June 29, with Djibril Diop Mambety's Touki Bouki (1973) and Jean-Luc Godard's Breathless (1960).

Palm Springs International Film Festival Announces Festival Line-Up


 The 30th annual Palm Springs International Film Festival (PSIFF) announced that the festival's opening night will be the screening of All is True directed by Kenneth Branagh on Friday, January 4.  The festival will close with Ladies in Black, directed by Bruce Beresford on Sunday, January 13. The Festival will screen 223 films from 78 countries, including 48 premieres (4 World, 13 North American and 31 U.S.) from January 3-14, 2019.  The line-up includes a focus on cinema from France, India and Mexico, Premieres, Talking Pictures, Book to Screen, Special Presentations, FLOS: Foreign Language Oscar Submissions, Gay!La, Local Spotlight, Modern Masters, True Stories, World Cinema Now, a 30-film retrospective of selections from past festivals (free screenings sponsored by Desert Care Network and National Endowment for the Arts), and more.
