Niclas Olson BIO

An actor, playwright, designer, and director, Olson's work has been featured at theaters from Seattle to Olympia. As the founder and managing artistic director of New Muses Theatre Company, he has helmed productions of classic works by Shakespeare (HAMLET, ROMEO & JULIET), Aristophanes (LYSISTRATA), Ibsen (GHOSTS, A DOLL'S HOUSE, PEER GYNT), Strindberg (MISS JULIE), Marlowe (DOCTOR FAUSTUS) and Wilde (THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST), along with contemporary works from Stephen Sondheim (INTO THE WOODS), Neil Labute (THE SHAPE OF THINGS, REASONS TO BE PRETTY) and Wallace Shawn (THE FEVER). His regional credits include the entirety of Tony Kushner's ANGELS IN AMERICA at Olympia Little Theatre and OF MICE AND MEN, MY NAME IS RACHEL CORRIE, and THE LIBRARY for Tacoma Little Theatre. His award-winning designs are regularly featured by clients including Tacoma Little Theatre, Tacoma Arts Live, Dukesbay Productions, the Lakewood Playhouse, UW Tacoma, Civic Rep Theatre, and Toy Boat Theatre. As an actor he is recognized for the title roles in Aaron Sorkin's THE FARNSWORTH INVENTION (LPH, NW Premiere), DOCTOR FAUSTUS, ROMEO AND JULIET, PEER GYNT, FRANKENSTEIN, two runs as HAMLET (New Muses), and THE MUSICAL ADVENTURES OF FLAT STANLEY (TMP) to recent performances as Tom in THE GLASS MENAGERIE and Seymour Krelbourn in LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS (LPH). His adaptations of classic plays have been regularly commissioned and published by New Muses Theatre Company and his original works have been staged at Pacific Lutheran University. EL COQUI ESPECTACULAR Comes to Centerstage Theatre


A new theatrical extravaganza; El Coqui Espectacular and the Bottle of Doom explodes onto Centerstage Theatre's stage from March 24 - April 16, 2023. Comic-book-artist Alex combats writer's block  by secretly dressing up as his creation, El Coquí Espectacular. Alex's brother Joe struggles to fit in at work.

Centerstage Theatre Presents THE HATMAKER'S WIFE This Month


Centerstage Theatre leaps into 2023 with the third show of their season lineup; The Hatmaker’s Wife runs from January 27 - February 19, 2023. This surreal time-bending modern fable is set in a home where walls talk and words magically appear. It’s a sweet unexplainable love triangle between Hetchman (a retired hatmaker), his beloved wife, and (of course) his hat! When both the wife and hat go missing, Hetchman vows to find them. But first he needs to muster the strength to leave the comforts of his beloved armchair. 

Holiday Panto CINDERELLA Comes to Centerstage Theatre Next Month


Centerstage Theatre has announced their 2022 holiday panto, Cinderella.  Great entertainment for family members from age 5 to 95; it runs from November 26- December 18, 2022 with four weekly performances at the Knutzen Family Theater on Dumas Bay in Federal Way, WA. 

Casting Announced For New Muses' SAINT JOAN


The cast is led by returning company member Cassie Jo Fastabend (New Muses' Lysistrata) in the role of Joan. She will be joined by an exciting ensemble of new and returning actors including David Breyman (Shakespeare in Love at Tacoma Arts Live) as Charles VIII, Ben Stahl (Frankenstein) as the Inquisitor, Eric Cuestas-Thompson (Ghosts) as the Chaplain, and Tacoma theatre mainstay Joseph Grant as Cauchon.
