36-year-old Russian-born German pianist Igor Levit has become the youngest ever recipient of The Wigmore Hall Medal.  In recognition of his outstanding musical achievements and contribution to Wigmore Hall, Levit received the medal from Wigmore Hall director John Gilhooly following Levit's performance of the complete late piano works of Johannes Brahms at the Hall on Friday 19 January.

The Atlanta Opera has announced its 2023-24 season of performances at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre, inspired by the intersecting genres of iconic literature, horror film and fantasy: a kind of season-wide Gesamtkunstwerk for the modern age.

Wigmore Hall's packed summer season (1 Apr – 21 Jul) features nearly 200 concerts and events. At the heart of Wigmore Hall's summer programme is the core chamber, piano and vocal repertoire upon which its reputation as the international home of chamber music is built, but there are also visits from legendary jazz musicians, Yiddish cabaret and forays into the avant garde.

Wigmore Hall celebrates the 2022 Holiday Season with five Christmas concerts performed by leading choirs and ensembles in the UK and Europe. 

For the first time in its history, Wigmore Hall will open the new concert season with a photography exhibition – 'Wigmore Hall:  Portraying Our People.' 

Enjoying success early in his career by composing Italian operas, towards the middle of the 18th century George Frideric Handel instead turned his attention to English oratorios. One of his more well-known works, Solomon, was recently performed as part of the 2022 BBC Proms – Sofi Jeannin conducted specialist orchestra The English Concert, with Iestyn Davies, Anna Dennis, Wallis Giunta, Benjamin Hulett, and Ashley Riches in solo roles. This performance continues the Proms’ sequence of Handel oratorios.

38-year-old Iranian-American harpsichordist Mahan Esfahani has become the youngest ever recipient of the Wigmore Medal.  In recognition of his outstanding musical achievements and contribution to Wigmore Hall, Esfahani received the medal last night from Wigmore Hall director John Gilhooly.
