Jeff Beal Shares New Song 'Corridors of Calm' Ahead of Carnegie Hall Debut
Five-time Emmy-winning composer Jeff Beal has just unveiled his new song, Corridors of Calm. The new song hails from Beal’s forthcoming album of piano music, New York Études, set for release on April 26. Beal meticulously composed the New York Études at his Manhattan home in the months after he relocated to New York in 2021. Listen to the song here!

Responsible for catapulting German Expressionism into the mainstream, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari marks the second installment in Beal's Weimar Trilogy of silent films, in which the renowned composer creates works in tandem with classic films from the silent era. It follows Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans (dir. F.W. Murnau, 1927).

The Broad Stage Presents Red Hen Press: The Figure of Orpheus in Poetry and Performance
The Broad Stage continues their collaboration with Red Hen Press for their final event of the season, Red Hen Press: The Figure of Orpheus in Poetry and Performance on Sunday, April 28 in The Edye at The Broad Stage. Poets selected by Poetry Society of America Director Alice Quinn will perform contemporary poems on the Orphic theme. A film clip from Marcel Camus' Black Orpheus will be shown to represent the theme in cinema, and pianist Paul Barnes will captivate the audience with The Orphee Suite for Piano, his amazing transcription of Philip Glass's symphony Orphee for solo piano. This event is sponsored in partnership with The Poetry Society of America and Red Hen Press.
Mt. Wilson Observatory Presents Sunday Afternoon Concerts in the Dome
Mount Wilson Observatory - the scientific marvel above Pasadena, atop Mount Wilson - is pleased to announce the third season of its Sunday Afternoon Concerts in the Dome, which will take place on the first Sunday of each month, inside the iconic vaulted dome of the 100-inch Hooker telescope. A wide range of musical adventures, thoughtfully curated by Artistic Director Cecilia Tsan, will be presented in this acoustically remarkable venue during the six-month run of the 2019 season, which concludes on October 6th.
