Gordon M Farrell BIO

Gordon Farrell's play, "The Lifespan Of A Fact," starring Daniel Radcliffe, Cherry Jones, and Bobby Canavale, ran to rave reviews on Broadway from September 20th, 2018 until January 13, 2019. It was co-written with Jeremy Karegen & David Murrell, directed by Leigh Silverman, and produced by eight-time Tony Award winner Jeffrey Richards.

Gordon Farrell received an MFA in Playwriting from the Yale School of Drama in 1986, where his play "Mendocino" was produced, starring Courtney B. Vance. In New York, Gordon's play "With More Than Voices" was produced off-off Broadway, and Arthur Sherman directed an Off-Broadway workshop of "Navigators." Gordon went on to work in Buffalo, New York, collaborating with the Alleyway Theater, where he wrote "Alice Again," "A Tin Star Over Tombstone," and "The Voice of America."

He is currently Playwright in Residence at the Alleyway Theater, where his immersive, walk-through play "Girls Who Walked on Glass" was hailed as "Rare and special," "Unforgettable," "A truly immersive experience and a unique one!" Anthony Chase of the Buffalo News declared, "Serious theatergoers will not want to miss this exceptional event!"

Teaching in NYU's Dramatic Writing Department for over 25 years, Gordon's students include Annie Baker, Lucas Hnath, Christopher Shinn, Jessica Goldberg, Madeleine George, Rinne Groff, Marco Ramirez, Eleanor Burgess, and Chisa Hutchinson among others. Gordon's book, The Power of the Playwright's Vision, was published by Heinemann Press in 2001. Translated internationally, it is now a standard playwriting text in North America, Europe, and Asia.
