Fresh off the national launch of their ghost-story-in-a-box Do Not Disturb, Nordo, Seattle’s genre-exploding interactive arts organization, announces a new Room Service Experience, The Witching Hour. Home delivery and shipping begin later this month.
The tumultuous year of 2020 brings this holiday tradition from the stage to your home in an equally deliciously and entertaining pivot from Nordo's signature live dinner events.
From the company that redefined dinner theater, Nordo's Room Service: Do Not Disturb is a deliciously entertaining pivot from live events. Do Not Disturb is a cocktail kit and dessert; it's one-part escape room and one-part treasure chest; best of all, it's all in one box.
Starting off the new year, ArtsWest will stage the THE REVOLUTIONISTS, by Lauren Gunderson- a fearless comedy about a sisterhood of heroes, re-writing their stories amidst the French Revolution. Performances will run January 16, Thursday through Sunday, until February 9.
Becky-June Beasley-Jones (played by the irreverent Butch Alice), the Jessica Fletcher of Café Nordo, a young girl who can't help but stumble into murder after murder (so much so that I'm not certain she's not perpetrating them) has returned to rock your holidays with a?oeThe Christmas Killings at Corgi Cliffsa??. In the latest crazed mystery from Scot Augustson and directed by Jasmine Joshua, Becky-June is on hand to find the killer and tickle your funny bone. And she does quite well, but this particular mystery felt a bit convoluted and long.
A really good Café Nordo show needs more than a good premise and good food. It needs a good script that really tells the story, complimenting the food, and a good pace. Their current incarnation, a?oeViolet's Attica??, has a wonderfully creepy premise which leads us into a fabulously whimsical meal. But the script and pace, while having some fantastic moments, suffer from too many long, drawn out sequences with little payoff.
Dear Readers, remember way back in December when the crazy minds of The Habit showed up at Seattle Public Theater with one of the most hysterical parodies ever, a?oeA Very Die Hard Xmasa??? Well I'm thrilled to tell you that they're back, this time tackling the a?oeRaiders of the Lost Arka?? movies (minus a?oeCrystal Skulla?? since that one was an abomination) and showing off how amazing they are at the lost art of satire with the brilliant a?oeIndy Jones and the Raiders of the Last Temple of the Doomed Arka??.
From the comedy writers who have had Seattle in stitches for decades and the creators of last year's sell-out super hit A Very Die Hard Christmas, comes a new adaption Indy Jones and the Raiders of the Last Temple of the Doomed Ark. Sketch writers from critically acclaimed troupe ?The Habit have teamed up with Seattle Public Theater to create a new musical comedy that is sure to bring a blockbuster to the shores of Green Lake this summer. Tickets are on sale now and performances are to be held at the Bathhouse Theatre August 15 - September 15, 2019.
