WGGB presents its annual awards for the encouragement of new writing in London on Friday 1 December 2023.

The latest recipients have been announced for the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Initiative commissions for new theatrical works surrounding themes of science, math, and technology.

Barney Norris wrote his debut play Visitors when he was only twenty years-old. Following its 2014 premiere at the Arcola, it garnered critical acclaim and earned Norris a Critic’s Circle Award for Most Promising Playwright. Following a national tour and Off-West End run at the Bush, Norris returns almost a decade later in the director’s chair for Visitors’ first major revival at the Watermill Theatre.

Royal & Derngate will produce the World Premiere of The Wellspring as part of its Made in Northampton 2021/22 season. Theatre producer PW Productions are developing a new stage production of The Invisible Man, created by the Bafta Award-winning Derren Brown and written by the award-winning Barney Norris. The plan is to premiere the new production in the Autumn of 2022 with theatre and booking details to be announced soon.

Two-time Olivier Award winner Derren Brown is currently developing an immersive theatrical experience based on the classic tale, The Invisible Man.
