This January, The Royal Opera presents Richard Jones' classic production of Puccini's La bohème, in its fourth revival since the 2017/18 season. Keri-Lynn Wilson and Evelino Pidò conduct three casts across the run which will see the opera's 700th performance at the Royal Opera House since its Covent Garden premiere in 1897.  

Celebrating the centenary of Puccini's death, Angela Gheorghiu releases a new album on Signum Classics. The album includes the world premiere recording of Puccini's newly re-discovered song, Melanconia. Available to stream/download, on CD and vinyl from 26 January 2024.

Gianandrea Noseda will receive the Puccini Award in the city of the composer's birth. He concludes a tour with the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia at the Puccini Festival.

Soprano Liudmyla Monastyrska will sing the title role in Puccini's Tosca on April 8 and 12, replacing Angela Gheorghiu, who is ill. She will also sing the final performance on April 15, as was previously announced.

The vibrant opera star Angela Gheroghiu makes her return to BroadStage as part of the Celebrity Opera series. Gheorghiu will enchant the stage with an unmatched repertoire, including Handel, Strauss, Tosti, Massenet, and more. Gheorghiu is accompanied by Alexandra Dariescu, piano and Alexandru Tomescu, violin.

Joseph Calleja has withdrawn from all Attila concert performances due to illness. The role of Foresto will be sung by Stefan Pop.  Romanian tenor Stefan Pop made his ROH debut in 2012, singing the role of Nemorino (L'elisir d'amore).

South Jersey’s Young Professionals Orchestra, Symphony in C has announced that renowned conductor Kazem Abdullah will lead the orchestra at Rutgers University-Camden on Saturday, May 21st at 8:00 p.m.

Liudmyla Monastyrska will sing the title role of Puccini's Tosca during the 2022–23 season, replacing Hibla Gerzmava in four performances March and April 2023. As previously announced, Angela Gheorghiu will sing the April 8 and 12, 2023, performances.

The Metropolitan Opera today announced its 2022–23 season, which features seven new productions, the most in ten seasons. Opening Night is September 27 with the company premiere of Cherubini’s Medea, starring soprano Sondra Radvanovsky in the title role alongside tenor Matthew Polenzani in David McVicar’s new staging, conducted by Carlo Rizzi.

Lyric Opera of Chicago has recorded Ruggiero Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci on film. Last week, the company announced that registration was open for audiences to secure free links to screen the new Pagliacci made at the Lyric Opera House. The Met has announced themed lineups for two weeks of its Nightly Met Opera Streams, the company’s ongoing series of encore Live in HD presentations and classic telecasts streamed on the its website during the coronavirus closure.

The schedule includes a week featuring operas centered around morally admirable characters and the power of the human spirit, and a week of operas set in Paris, entitled City of Light. The April 23 stream of Philip Glass’s Satyagraha is being presented in partnership with Carnegie Hall as part of their Voices of Hope festival.

The Royal Opera House has shared early plans for its 2021/22 Season, the first full Royal Opera House Season since 2019.
