BWW Review: THE QUICKENING at Fells Point Corner Theatre

A young woman and her baby are in danger as it becomes increasingly evident they are being haunted.

Fells Point Corner Theatre Presents THE QUICKENING

Few things frighten and intrigue as much as a ghost story, but incorporating new, thought-provoking questions around the idea of what happens after death can turn a plot into something special. "The Quickening" takes these questions in unexpected directions certain to keep audiences at the edge of their seats. It is the story of a pregnant woman who moves into a new home in Richmond, Virginia, only to discover that all is certainly not as it seems. She faces challenge after challenge with the help of her mother, and her mathematician neighbor, all the while standing against the skepticism of her husband, who has little faith in the "unexplained".

When Gottel the Witch discovers a thief in her garden, she tricks him into exchanging his first-born daughter for a salad. Trish is left behind by the tour bus and finds herself wandering into the Eat 'n' Save, a mini-mart in a rapidly changing neighborhood. Trish decides to wait at the Eat 'n' Save for the tour bus to pick her up, against the wishes of Rhonda (Rachael Murray), the mini-mart's manager. Antics abound as Trish tries to convince Rhonda and Jan (Amanda Spellman), Rhonda's employee, to allow her to stay.
