Kaufman Music Center to Celebrate the Music of Alan Menken
Kaufman Music Center's 2017 Broadway Playhouse season concludes with a celebration of Alan Menken on Sunday, March 5th at 11am. A whole generation of children has grown up singing his songs from beloved musicals and films including The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and Pocahontas. His music has captured the imagination of millions and won him eight Academy Awards, eleven Grammys and a Tony Award.

Alan Kaufman Presents on Allen Ginsberg Exhibit at the Contemporary Jewish Museum
The first time Alan Kaufman met Ginsberg, in the early '70s, the younger writer was an undergraduate at Queens College and heard that the poet would be reading at Columbia and rushed over to hear him. Later, Kaufman worked with Ginsberg throughout the '90s, occasionally traveling with him to conferences abroad. In Kaufman's memoir, Drunken Angel, he featured Allen Ginsberg as a mentor and friend.
Alan Menken Set for Concert to Benefit MA Arts Camp Scholarship Fund at Kaufman Center Tonight
Eight-time Academy Award-winning composer Alan Menken will take us on a unique musical journey through his renowned and beloved songs. This special performance will include a Q&A with the artist and will be followed by a dessert reception with desserts donated by Fairway Market and cheese donated by Murray's Cheese. Mr. Menken will be joined by three distinguished Belvoir Terrace alumnae: Deborah Grausman, Emma Rosenthal, and Nora Menken, who will each sing a Menken song, accompanied by Diane Marcus, Camp Director and Belvoir Alumna. The benefit performance will take place in the Kaufman Center's beautiful concert venue, Merkin Hall, tonight, February 28th at 7pm. The money raised will go to the Edna Y. Schwartz Scholarship Fund for talented young women to attend the prestigious arts camp, nestled in the heart of the Berkshires, in Lenox, MA.
