FARRAGUT NORTH by Beau Willimon. Director: Brendan Burke.
1st rehearsal May 15, 2012; Runs June 1 – June 17.
STEPHEN BELLAMY: 25. Youthful and brilliant wunderkind press secretary for presidential candidate; smart and cocky. His confidence will eventually cause him to drop his guard. Very strong actor needed.
PAUL ZARA: Late 40s. Campaign manager for the campaign; lives the job, and his body is beginning to show the wear and tear.
MOLLY: 19. An intern on the campaign. Ambitious and smart. Attractive and she knows it.
BEN: 20s. Deputy press secretary for the campaign. Smart. Respectful, polite, and slightly awkward and unpolished…for now.
TOM DUFFY: 50s. Campaign manager for the opposition candidate. The ‘old salt’.
IDA HOROWICZ: 30’s-50’s. Traveling political reporter for The NY Times. She can be ‘one of the boys’ when necessary, and is smarter than they think.
WAITER: 20’s-30’s: Latino. Works in the family restaurant and believes in the American Dream. Actor will also play FRANK, a reporter for The Los Angeles Times.
FULLY COMMITTED by Becky Mode. Director: Brendan Burke.
1st rehearsal: June 5, 2012. Runs June 22 – July 15.
SAM: 20’s-30’s. Actor plays all the roles in the play. Requires a strong, chameleon actor with great comedy skills and the ability to create multiple characters, both physically and vocally.
A SONG AT TWILIGHT by Noel Coward. Director: James Glossman.
1st rehearsal: July 10, 2012. Runs July 20 – August 5.
FELIX: 20s. Gorgeous. A young, athletic, graceful and discrete Italian hotel waiter. Much smarter than he seems.
HUGO: CAST. 80s. A grand and great British author. Alternately charming and viperish, as needed.
HILDE: CAST. 50s-60s. Originally German, and once Hugo's secretary, his wife of two decades. Fiercely protective of her husband, she is clear-eyed in her love for him. A woman of unexpected humor, and unexpected humor.
CARLOTTA: CAST. 60s-70s. But looks younger. Once Hugo's lover, she has gone from being a great British star on stage and film, to an American movie and television actress of character roles. She is sharp, sardonic, quick-thinking and unexpectedly grown-up.
SHOUT! THE MOD MUSICAL created by Phillip George & David Lowenstein. Director: Michael LaFleur. 1st rehearsal: July 24, 2012. Runs August 10 – September 9
All characters are women.
BLUE: Late 20's to early 30's – A blue-blooded fashion model. BLUE is sophisticated, poised, cool and aloof. Possibly Asian. Low Bb to High C. High soprano belt.
GREEN: Late 30's – A good-time girl. Blousy, middle-class and zany, she is a bit frayed at the edges, and hopelessly single. A comedienne is needed. Mezzo, Shirley Bassey-like belt.
ORANGE: Mid to late 30's – The mother of the group. ORANGE is domestic and maternal. Wise, soulful and mature, she is slowly asserting her new-found independence. Low Bb to High Bb. Soprano with belt.
RED: 20’s – The baby of the group. RED is quirky, enthusiastic and naïve. A hopeless romantic, she is insecure about her looks and possibly a bit chunky. Low Bb to High C. Soprano with belt.
YELLOW: Late 20's to 30 – An uninhibited and brash American. She is a ray of sunshine with a surprising vulnerability. F below mid C to belt Eb. Alto with big rock diva belt.
THE DANGERS OF ELECTRIC LIGHTING by Ben Clawson. Director: Brendan Burke.
1st rehearsal: August 28, 2012. Runs September 14 – September 30.
EDISON: 40s. A brilliant and almost manic inventor, with a darker side as well. Mercurial and passionate and, ultimately, prideful to a fault. Finds ‘alternating current’ and its enthusiasts to be reckless. He would never build a device that will harm. Fiercely competitive; wants to be first, and needs to be right.
TESLA: 40’s. An inventor and Serbian immigrant. A problem solver. Brilliant, organized and logical. Frustrated by Edison’s sloppy ways and off-line thinking, and confounded by Edison’s vendetta against his work.
BATCHELOR: 40’s-50’s. Edison’s smart, loyal and good-humored associate and friend.
WESTINGHOUSE: 50’s-60’s. An up-front and powerful businessman and adventurous entrepreneur who never wants to be a step behind. Also plays BENJAMIN FRANKLIN.
HAROLD BROWN: 30’s. A former salesman. Younger and ambitious, he’s got an axe to grind and probably wouldn’t mind a little notoriety either. A ‘self-titled’ electrical engineer.
