**Out of an abundance of caution, the producers have chosen to cancel this EPA for the safety of our members and everyone involved. These EPAs will not be rescheduled. These EPAs will not be rescheduled. They will be accepting video audition submissions in lieu of the EPAs. A separate notice for video submissions will be posted with submission information.

Equity actors for a few available roles in the season. See breakdown.

All SM and ASM positions have been filled.

PREPARATION

Prepare a brief monologue from a contemporary play; heightened language preferred. If auditioning for drag role, dance and/or movement ability preferred needed but not required at audition. Bring picture and resume.

PARTY TIME
by Harold Pinter:

The play takes place at an elegant town house/art gallery. Through multiple scenes, it becomes clear that there is an uprising of some sort taking place throughout the city. Most of the male characters are involved in directing physical violence against protesters, though this is never made explicit

Seeking

Male, 60’s, affluent. Clearly has very traditional view of marital relations.

Female: 70’s. Elegant, extremely traditional, laments ‘lost society’

Gavin: Role CAST. Party host, elegant, reserved 50’s 60’s, male

Terry: Role CAST. Party guest, Cockney, ambitious, wealthy 40’ 50’s, male

Fred: Role CAST. Party guest. Sensual, enigmatic 40’s, male

Dusty: Role CAST. 30’s Terry’s wife. Beautiful, politically abrasive, female.

Charlotte: Role CAST. Female, 40’s, former girlfriend of Fred’s. Beautiful, predatory

Pamela: Female, 50’s, judgmental, wealthy

Liz: Female, 30’s, 40’s Douglas’s wife, well cared for, gossipy, bored

ALL CHARACTERS EXCEPT FOR TERRY AND DUSTY ARE UPPER CLASS AND CONTEMPTUOUS OF THOSE WHO ARE NOT. British accents.

Female Track: Character age range 40s - 60s. This play is an ensemble of three men and three women at the after party of a recently deceased friend’s funeral. All characters are British, but not defined by name or specific roles.

5 Actor Tracks: Here We Go Churchill gives no specific role descriptions, nor gender breakdown. Dialogue indicates 6 characters range in age from 30 to 70. ALL CHARACTERS ARE CLEARLY MIDDLE OR UPPER CLASS BRITS, EDUCATED, INTELLIGENT, INCREASINGLY CONFRONTING THEIR OWN MORTALITY

THEN/NOW

Act One is a collage of text that includes words culled from interviews with the community most impacted by the AIDS epidemic Also, included are works of poetry, dramatic texts written during the height of the epidemic and now looking back at that time.

Act Two is a performance of Robert Chesley's elegy DOG PLAYS, which explores lives of a handful of gay men on the brink.

Rover, a young drag queen of color. Dream sequence, he is a memory for the other two characters, recalled in the moment of doing his drag performance.

Fido, in his 40’s, a denizen of the Castro. Trying to ignore the increasing levels of death surrounding him; was a hedonist.

The following roles have been CAST. Seeking understudies or possible replacements only

DOG (Role CAST) The ‘Elder Statesman’ of the Castro community 40-50. Looking back over the devastation of the past years. Gay, intelligent, in mourning

BUCK - (Role CAST) a former lover of Dog. Attractive, maintains a youthful appearance at 40 or so. Witty, sardonic, enjoys sparring with Dog

FEMALE ENSEMBLE. (Role CAST) A woman who plays a number of roles, ages 40s, mother to an AIDS patient, physician working in the community, sister of an AIDS patient
