**Out of an abundance of caution, the producers have chosen to cancel this EPA/ECC/audition for the safety of our members and everyone involved. They anticipate rescheduling the auditions at some
point in the near future.**

SEEKING

Equity actors and singer for roles in the upcoming 47th season. See breakdown.

PREPARATION

Prepare a two-minute contemporary monologue (memorized), and bring a headshot and resume stapled together. Vocalists should also be prepared to sing 16 bars of a song of their choosing. An accompanist will be provided, but vocalists must bring sheet music.

Hector MacQueen - (30’s) an American man who took a job as an assistant to Mr. Ratchett.

Colonel Arbuthnot: An older man. Friend of Colonel Armstrong. Hard-willed, polite & very “English”.

Alice Murphy – plays Alice at both 16-17 and 36-37. Alice at age 36-37. She must be very strong singer and comfortable in folk and bluegrass styles.

Billy Cane – a young soldier returning home from WWII; an aspiring young writer; fresh, open, optimistic, charming, and a little naïve.

Daddy Cane – Billy’s father. A widower. Kind hearted, if a bit lonely. Ideally plays stringed instrument

Margo Crawford – a small-town bookstore owner; a childhood friend of Billy’s who now harbors romantic feelings towards him; a natural beauty with a keen intellect.

Max – a customer at Margo’s bookstore. Also plays: Daryl Ames & Dr. Norquist. Ideally plays the banjo.

Florence – an employee at Margo’s bookstore and a childhood friend of both Billy and Margo. Also plays: Lucy Grant &

Well-dressed Woman. Ideally plays the fiddle or other stringed instrument.

Edna – an employee at Margo’s bookstore. Also plays: Mama Murphy – Alice’s mother. A caretaker to her family and her rural community. Ideally plays mandolin or other stringed instrument.

Daddy Murphy – Alice’s father; an authoritative and a stern disciplinarian; devoutly religious, hard-working, a poor but proud farmer. Ideally plays guitar or other stringed instrument.

Mayor Josiah Dobbs – the Mayor of Zebulon; a political and financial powerbroker – distinguished, an imposing and controlling presence; has a genuine interest in protecting his son’s future and his family name. Ideally plays guitar or other stringed instrument
