All Stage manager positions are currently filled.
We also recognize that the characters are written on the binary (use she/her and he/him pronouns) and we invite gender non-conforming, genderqueer, transgender, and non-binary actors to submit for the roles they most identify with. In reference to the descriptions below – these are descriptions of the characters as identified in the script and in collaboration with the creative team. They are not meant to be exhaustive of who should play these roles and we seek to cast expansively and intentionally with consideration of race/ethnicity, gender, body type, and ability.

For TINO, KASH, and CORTEZ, please prepare 15 -18 bars of your favorite rap song. No track/music needed. Prepare the rap in a rap battle/rap cypher style. Please bring your headshot and resume stapled together.

of rehearsals in March. EPA Procedures are in effect for this audition. An Equity Monitor will be provided.

[TINO/as cast] Black, male-identifying, late 20s: The Griot. Brother to Kash and Cortez. Adept at rap with a strong command of movement.
[KASH/as cast] Black, queer male-identifying, early 20s: The rhythmist/lyricist. Brother to Tino and Cortez. Adept at rap with a strong command of movement. NOTE: This role involves a scene with intimate physical contact.
[CORTEZ/as cast] Black, male-identifying, 30s: The painter. Brother to Tino and Kash. Adept at rap with a strong command of movement.
[MOTHER/as cast] Black, female-identifying, 30s to 60s: Doubles several male and female characters ranging in age.
[CELLZ:] CAST Black, non-binary, late 20s: The Oracle. Seeking performers with adept rapping abilities and a strong command of movement. NOTE: This role involves a scene with intimate physical contact.
