Lyndon Pugeda - Musical Director - JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR

“Jesus Christ Superstar” is an iconic rock opera that reinvented musical theater for the modern age. With music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice, this global blockbuster tells the story of the final weeks in the life of Jesus Christ, from the perspective of Judas Iscariot. As Christ’s followers grow more fervent, Judas must make his fateful choice between faith and betrayal. Filled with an exciting mix of musical styles that draw upon 1970s rock, gospel, folk and funk themes, this contemporary imagining of the biblical tale features high-energy dance and powerful storytelling. Prior to the show coming to the stage, Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber released “Jesus Christ Superstar” as a concept double album in 1970. It became a massive global best-seller, topping the US Billboard Top LPs chart in both February and May 1971, as well as ranking at number one in the year end chart. By 1983, the album had sold over 7 million copies worldwide.

THE WEDDING SINGER

First Non-Equity: 5/6

First Equity: 5/22

Open: 6/17

Close: 6/24

Larry Raben - Director

Tamara Paige - Musical Director

The Wedding Singer” takes us back to a time when hair was big, greed was good, collars were up and a wedding singer might just be the coolest guy in the room. Based on the hit Adam Sandler movie, “The Wedding Singer’s” sparkling score does for the ‘80s what “Hairspray” did for the 60s. Just say yes to the most romantic musical in twenty years. It’s 1985, and rock star wannabe, Robbie Hart, is New Jersey’s favorite wedding singer. He’s the life of the party until his own fiancée leaves him at the altar. Shot through the heart, Robbie makes every wedding as disastrous as his own. Enter Julia, a winsome waitress who wins his affection. As luck would have it, Julia is about to be married to a Wall Street shark, and, unless Robbie can pull off the performance of a decade, the girl of his dreams will be gone forever.

SEEKING

:

Robbie Hart: B3 to C6. 25-35. The lead singer of a band. Handsome and charismatic. A truly ‘nice’ guy that has the classic lead singer aura and personality. Also a bit of a dreamer. In love with love until Linda leaves him at the altar and breaks his heart.

Sammy: C4 to A5. 25-35 The bass player in the wedding band and one of Robbie’s best friends. A total guy’s guy, but beneath his pretending to love being a bachelor he is actually in love with Holly.

George: C4 to A5. 25-35. The wedding band’s keyboardist and one of Robbie’s best friends. Sensitive and somewhat flamboyant. The foil to Sammy’s super guy attitude.

Julia Sullivan: THIS ROLE HAS ALREADY BEEN CAST.

Holly: A3 to E5. 25-35. Julia’s cousin, very uninhibited and forward with comedic timing. Sexually promiscuous and always up for a good time, but wants to be loved and is looking for romantic fulfillment in all the wrong places. She is in love with Sammy. Based on Madonna of the 80’s.

Glen Guglia: D4 to B5. 30-50. Julia’s fiancé. A Wall Street broker. He is rich, shallow, and materialistic. Constantly tries to buy Julia’s love with money. He is a bit of a womanizer. Slimy.

Rosie: C4 to C5. 60-80 Robbie’s grandmother who raised him. Motherly but adventurous and always trying to remain “hip” despite her age. Comedic Timing. Can Rap.

Linda: A3 to D5. 20-35 Robbie’s fiancée who leaves him at the altar. Keeps Robbie around as a back up plan. Is more in love with the idea of Robbie being a rock star than she actually is with Robbie. Trashy, oversexed. Pat Benatar type.

Ensemble: All ranges 14 ensemble members.

Come along and listen to the lullaby of Broadway! “42nd Street” celebrates Broadway, Times Square and the magic of show biz with wit, humor and pizzazz. At the height of the Great Depression, aspiring chorus girl Peggy Sawyer comes to the big city from Allentown, PA and soon lands her first big job in the ensemble of a glitzy new Broadway show. But just before opening night, the leading lady breaks her ankle. Will Peggy be able to step in and become a star? The score is chock-full of Broadway standards, including “You’re Getting To Be A Habit With Me,” “Dames,” “We’re In the Money,” “Lullaby of Broadway,” “Shuffle Off to Buffalo” and “Forty-Second Street.”

SEEKING

:

Peggy Sawyer: Alto-mezzo soprano. 21. A young, starry-eyed, naïve, and humble chorus girl who assumes the Lead role in Pretty Lady when Dorothy breaks her ankle. Belts and is able to easily transition to head voice. She is the triple threat in the show - must sing, act, and dance (tap) very well.

Julian Marsh: Baritone. D to high G. 35-55. Famous, but notorious, Broadway director who comes over as very gruff as he barks his directions at actors and crew, but this masks his consummate passion for the theatre. Some dance required.

Dorothy Brock: Low Alto 35-55 A past-her-prime and well-known, Broadway diva. She is supposed to be the female lead in Pretty Lady because she is dating Abner who is paying for the show. While very selfish and mean to everyone at first, she comes to understand what’s really important in life after breaking her ankle and therefore unable to perform. She is not a great dancer, but is a good mover.

Billy Lawlor: High Tenor. 25-35. The youthful, leading tenor in Pretty Lady. Voice: very high tenor. Very strong dancer, especially in tap.

Maggie Jones: THIS ROLE HAS ALREADY BEEN CAST

Bert Barry: Tenor. C to high F. 30-55. One of the writers for Pretty Lady and an ex-performer. Comedic role. Some dance required.

Pat Denning: D to F. 25-55. Former vaudeville partner of Dorothy’s and her secret romantic partner.

Andy Lee: Any vocal range. 20-45. Choreographer/Dance Director of Pretty Lady. No solo singing. Very strong dancer, especially in tap.

Abner Dillon: Any vocal range. Over 40. Financial backer of Pretty Lady and Dorothy’s “sugar daddy” from Texas. He doesn’t realize Dorothy is only with him because of his money. Mostly speaking role, no solo singing.

Mac: Any vocal range. Stage Manager of Pretty Lady. Speaking role, no solo singing. Can double as Thug/Doctor/Chorus

Oscar: Any vocal range. Accompanist for Pretty Lady. Nonspeaking role. Can double Chorus.

Anne Reilly (Anytime Annie): 18-30, Chorus girl in Pretty Lady with her eye on Bert. Great tap dancer with good dialogue delivery.

Lorraine Fleming & Phyllis Dale: 18-30 Chorus girls in Pretty Lady – carry chorus numbers as well as great dance ability (tap).

Ensemble: All ranges. 24 Ensemble members with good voices and great dance ability. Also members of the Pretty Lady backstage team (wardrobe, dressers, stage hands, etc) Doctor, Waiters and 2 Thugs.

In this beloved 70s throwback, Tony Manero, a nineteen-year-old Brooklynite paint store clerk, spends his weekends at a local disco, where he moonlights as the king of the dance floor. When he and mesmerizing dancer Stephanie enter a dance competition, the pair’s professional partnership blossoms into a deep friendship, and challenges both to reflect on what’s important in life amidst rising social tensions and disillusionment. Featuring the timeless hits of the Bee Gees, classic disco tracks, and new original songs, this reimagined version of “Saturday Night Fever” transports you back to the era of disco balls, platform boots, and white suits. Featuring songs from the bestselling movie soundtrack of all time, including “Stayin’ Alive,” “How Deep Is Your Love,” “Night Fever,” “Tragedy” and “More Than a Woman,” as well as 70s favorites “Boogie Shoes,” “Disco Inferno” and many more.

SEEKING

:

Tony Manero: A2 to G4. 19 Handsome, charismatic Brooklyn Italian. Ringleader of his gang of friends, The Faces. Tough guy exterior with vulnerability underneath – a “thinker,” not a “talker.” He comes alive whenever he dances.

Stephanie Mangano: BH3 to FG5. 20’s. Puts on airs to hide her Brooklyn upbringing, but every now and then a bit of the old neighborhood comes out. She may be pretentious and lack tact at times, but she is still genuinely likeable. Strong singer and dancer, Brooklyn accent.

Bobby: C3 to A4. 19. One of the Faces. Genuine and less self-assured than the other guys. He breaks up with his high school girlfriend, Pauline at their urging, and continuously struggles with doing the right thing. Strong singer who can move, Brooklyn accent.

Gus: E3 to FG4. 19. One of the Faces. A follower. Not afraid to lie to cover his own ass. Strong singer who can move, Brooklyn accent.

Double-J: C3 to FG4. 19. One of the Faces. A charming and funny jokester and a real bruiser. Physically the toughest of the gang. Strong singer with great comedic timing, who can move, Brooklyn accent.

Joey: E3 to A4. 19. One of the Faces. A real “wise-guy” with possible connections. Strong singer who can move, Brooklyn accent.

Frank Manero: 40’s-50’s Tony’s father. An out of work construction worker who feels like the world has turned its back on him. Brooklyn accent.

Flo Manero: 40’s-50’s Tony’s mother. A devout Catholic, she cares deeply for her family, and especially idolizes her son, Frank Jr. Brooklyn accent.

Frank: Jr. 20’s Tony’s brother who has left the priesthood. Humble and full of good advice. Has a Brooklyn accent.

Linda Manero: 15-16. Tony’s little sister. Sunny and spunky. Brooklyn accent. Linda could double in the ensemble or may appear in numbers at 2001 as if she sneaked in with a fake ID.

Pauline: G3 to E5. 19. Sweet and optimistic ex to girlfriend of Bobby. She is hurt by Bobby’s behavior, but there’s a larger issue that’s concerning her. Strong singer, Brooklyn accent.

Annette: F3 to C5. 19. Overeager to please, a “puppy to dog” with an insecure edge. Is incredibly hurt that Tony does not have feelings for her. Strong singer and dancer, Brooklyn accent.

Monty: B2 to G4. The MC, DJ, and gatekeeper of 2001. Good to looking and charismatic with a big personality. After Tony, the coolest person in town. Strong singer who can move.

Candy: A4 to G5. The resident singer of 2001. Sexy and confident, beloved by everybody. Strong singer/belter. She has a great deal of singing to do.

Ensemble: All vocal ranges. 16 ensemble members. 2001 dance contestants, dance studio owner, salesperson, various roles, soloists
