PREPARATION
Prepare EITHER a) two contrasting 1-minute monologues OR b) a brief song (appropriate for JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR) OR c) a brief
song and a 1-minute monologue. If singing, bring sheet music in the correct key; an accompanist will be provided, but may not transpose. Please bring a photo and resume, stapled back-to-back.

Jesus Christ – Tenor (A2-G5) Title role, leader of 12 disciples, a man called the “Son of God” and “King of the Jews.”
Judas Iscariot – Tenor (D3-D5) one of the twelve apostles of Jesus; concerned for the poor and the consequences of Jesus’ fame.
Mary Magdalene – Mezzo-soprano (F3-Eb5) a female follower of Jesus who finds herself falling in love with him.
Pontius Pilate – Bari-tenor (A2-B4) Governor of Judea who forsees the events of Jesus’ crucifixion from beginning to aftermath in a dream and finds himself being presented with that very situation.
Caiaphas – Bass (C#2-F4) one of the main antagonists of the show. High Priest who sees Jesus as a threat to the nation.
Annas – Countertenor (G2-D5) One of the main antagonists of the show. Fellow priest at the side of Caiaphas who is persuaded by Caiaphas into seeing Jesus as a threat.
Peter – Baritone (A2-G4) one of Jesus’ twelve apostles; denies Jesus three times upon the night of Jesus’ arrest to save himself.
Simon Zealotes – Tenor (G3-B4) one of Jesus’ twelve apostles; urges Jesus to lead his followers into battle against the Romans.
King Herod Tenor (C#3-G4) the King of Galilee; Jesus is brought to him for judgement after first being taken to Pilate.
Ensemble (15+ members) – Men and women of all types and ages who play a variety of roles in the show including but not limited to Apostles, soldiers, citizens, priests, etc.

Sir Wilfred Robarts: (middle aged/elderly) Queens Counsel. Very able, kindly. Leonard Vole: (30-40) Nice looking, friendly, likable.
Romaine: (mid-30s) Leonard’s “wife,” foreign, stately, somewhat reserved, a bit daunting. Must be good with accents. THIS ROLE IS PRECAST
Mr. Myers: (middle aged/elderly) Q.C. Lawyer for the prosecution in Leonard’s trial. Very precise, determined he’s right.
Mr. Carter: (middle aged) Carter is a bit of a fuss budget, Sir Wilfred’s chief clerk. Justice Wainwright: The Judge is very dignified, a bit acerbic, knows his law.
Mr. Mayhew: Mayhew is the solicitor Leonard consults. He assists Sir Wilfred in pre-trial questioning. Nice man, very particular, good knowledge of the law.
Mr. Clegg: Mr. Clegg is an assistant in the forensics lab, thinks of himself as pretty clever, could have a regional accent.
Janet Mackenzie: (50s-60s) A dour Scotswoman, the murdered woman’s housekeeper. Hates Leonard and not afraid to show it. Scottish accent a must.
Inspector Hearne: (30s/40s) Tall, dignified, good looking.
Greta: (young) Sir Wilfred’s secretary, cute blonde, a bit ditzy, unjustifiably full of herself. Dr. Wyatt: (middle aged) Female pathologist giving testimony in court.
The Other Woman: (young) Strawberry blonde, very pretty.
