Please bring picture and resume. Bring sheet music in the style of the show, and in the proper key, accompanist provided. No recorded music or a capella, please. Non-union and children please limit song to one minute.

A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM:

Performances to take place at the Scherr Forum Theatre, Bank of America Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, Thousand Oaks, CA. ALL ROLES OPEN TO NON-EQUITY. There is pay for all roles. All roles are available except PSEUDOLUS. DIVERSITY: All ethnic types encouraged for all roles.

ROLE DESCRIPTIONS:

PSEUDOLUS- (CAST)
HYSTERIUM- Another slave. Hapless and skittish to the point of paranoia. Character tenor.
MILES GLORIOSUS- A sea-captain. Pompous, full of himself. Quasi-legit high baritone.
HERO- Young, earnest, in love, but not too bright. Youthful high baritone.
PHILIA- The ingenue. Pretty face, pretty voice, pretty dumb. Young soprano with lower belt range.
SENEX- Hero’s father. Henpecked around his wife, but a wannabe lecherous old man around everyone else. Character high baritone.
DOMINA- Senex’s wife. Overbearing, gruff. Quasi-legit mezzo with lower belt range.
MARCUS LYCUS- A buyer and seller of courtesans. Spineless and stammering. Character baritone.
ERRONIUS- Befuddled old man. Half-deaf and totally lost.
COURTESANS- Six females. Sexy, leggy, each with distinct personalities. Includes THE GEMINAE (twins), VIBRATA (mezzo with good frontal focus or high belt), GYMNASIA, PANACEA, and TINTINABULA. All must dance or move well, and sing (altos and sopranos).
PROTEANS- Three males, adept at physical comedy and slapstick. All must sing well (high baritones and tenors).

CHILDREN OF EDEN:
Performances to take place at the Kavli Theatre, Bank of America Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, Thousand Oaks, CA. ALL ROLES OPEN TO NON-EQUITY. There is pay for all roles for ages 18 and up. All roles are available. DIVERSITY: All ethnic types encouraged for all roles.

ROLE DESCRIPTIONS:

NOTE: All ethnic types and physicalities are encouraged for ALL ROLES. CHILDREN OF EDEN is designed to represent the entire rainbow of the human experience.

FATHER- To play 50-65 years old. Warm, idealistic. Wrestles with parenthood issues. Big speaking voice, commanding presence. Strong bass-baritone.

ADAM/NOAH- To play 25-45 years old and age emotionally from childhood to twilight. Leading-man qualities with great character flair and comic timing. Strong baritone-tenor, legit to light rock sound.

EVE/MAMA NOAH- To play 25-45 years old and age emotionally from childhood to twilight. Strong-willed, loving, nurturing, playful, filled with passion and a sense of humor in life. Strong high belter (into Soprano) with ability to do soft rock and “riff” with ease.

CAIN/JAPHETH- To play age 17-23. Restless, rebellious, passionate. Capable of both courage and violence. Must be able to move. Strong singing role, in rock and chorale styles.

ABEL/HAM- To play age 17-21. Sincere, earnest, sensitive, honest. Must be able to move. Strong singing role, in rock and chorale styles.

SETH/SHEM- To play age 17-23. Straightforward, honest. Must be able to move. Must sing, in rock and chorale styles.

YONAH- To play age 17-21. Descendant of the race of Cain. Self-effacing, incapable of dishonesty. Must be able to move. Strong singer, in chorale and rock styles.

AHPRA, AYSHA- To play age 17-23. Wives of Noah’s sons. Sometimes frightened or sarcastic, but sincere, humane. Must sing well and move.

STORYTELLERS- All ages and types. Key roles that sing the narrative throughout the story. Will double as SNAKE, ANIMALS and more. Some must dance, others move. Must be able to handle light rock, riffing, and choral blend.

MALE LEAD STORYTELLER- Terrific singer. Must move well. Must be very vocally versatile, including calypso, etc.

FEMALE LEAD STORYTELLER- Terrific singer. Must move well. Must be very vocally versatile, including calypso, etc.

ADDITIONAL SINGING ENSEMBLE- All ages and types to play animals, descendants of Adam, etc.

CHILDREN- Ages 8-14 to play YOUNG STORYTELLERS, YOUNG CAIN, YOUNG ABEL, etc.
