Experience the power of hearing more than 175 Mystics singing gospel music, led by award-winning director and composer, Jonathan Singleton on Feb. 23 at 7:30 at Cary Hall in Lexington. Our featured guest singer will be internationally acclaimed vocalist and Berklee professor Nichelle Mungo, who along with the chorale will present a spirit-filled concert offering an eclectic mix of music rooted in the African American gospel tradition.
Mystic Gospel: Moving Forward, Looking Back charts the progression of gospel from its origin in the spirituals and the blues to today’s modern contemporary sound. The diverse program features Aretha Franklin’s How I Got Over, Rhiannon Giddens’ Up Above My Head, jazz guitarist Jonathan Butler’s Our Voices Matter, gospel giant CeCe Winans’ Goodness of God, the music of gospel choir great, John P. Kee, and more; all united by messages of love and unity.
You’ll be clapping and dancing in the aisles — join us!
If you’re unable to attend in person, the concert will be live streamed.
