Lisa Stephen Friday could have presented the eight semi-autobiographical songs she worked up with her band Lisa Jackson & Girl Friday, just as she once did at a series of Lower East Side clubs in the 90s.
The Keegan Theatre has announced the live world premiere of Lisa Stephen Friday's one-woman rock musical TRANS AM, featuring the music of cult-favorite NYC glam rock band Lisa Jackson & Girl Friday and directed by Broadway's Fred Berman.
The season opens with Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright David Lindsay-Abaire's comedy Good People - a compelling and comedic examination of class and the divides it creates in a community of hardworking South Boston friends. A Tony Award nominee for Best Play, Good People, looks into the struggles of its characters and reminds us that kindness comes at the most surprising moments and from unexpected sources.
'TRANS AM' is a powerful, honest portrayal of a fascinating and gifted woman, and brings a beautiful blend of storytelling and performance to the stage (and our screens). With its compelling story, sensational music, and deep emotionality, 'TRANS AM' is a show that stays with audiences in the best way, and makes you excited to see what Lisa’s next steps will be.
The Keegan Theatre is pleased to announce the Keegan Galaween Special, a virtual gala taking place on Halloween! The event celebrates 24 years of The Keegan Theatre and supports the Return to Good Company campaign, Keegan's initiative focused on helping to restore DC's collective sense of community when it's finally safe to open theatre doors to the public again.
