Montoya’s choreography breathes life into untold Latino stories of the American Southwest. Drawing from personal histories and ancestral knowledge passed down from generation to generation, her stories reveal the true impact of the Bracero Program on Southwest communities, the environmental impact of the development of the atomic bomb on Latino communities and claiming her Sephardic roots. Montoya and company celebrate the power of heritage, resilience, and the transformative force of dance.
A través de una exhuberante coreografía, Montoya le da vida a historias hispanas desconocidas del suroeste de los Estados Unidos. Utilizando experiencias personales y conocimiento adquirido de generaciones antiguas, la artista revela el verdadero impacto del Programa Bracero (que permitió a ciudadanos mexicanos realizar trabajos temporales de agricultura en los Esatdos Unidos) en las comunidades del suroeste del país.
