His relativity theory revolutionized science and his name became synonymous with genius. But the lesser known story is the role of Mileva Maric, the physicist and fellow student at Zurich Polytechnic who was Einsteins first wife. As recently discovered personal correspondence shows, Maric contributed substantially to his scientific success yet received little professional credit. In this gripping production, playwright Snezena Gnjidic presents a thoughtful portrait of the couples tumultuous relationship and Marics role in developing his ground-breaking ideas. What started as a team of equals fell apart, derailed by motherhood and a world not prepared for female achievement. Drawing on their personal correspondence, Einsteins Wife explores the life of a gifted woman living in the shadow of a brilliant man. Featuring Sasha Olinick as Albert and Cecelia Auerswald as Mileva and directed by Karin Rosnizeck.
