Arena Stage has announced its 74th season. The upcoming subscription season will feature two original musicals, an acclaimed play with music, an uproarious comedy, Arena’s 11th Power Play, and a return by audience-favorite Step Afrika!.
Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater is now presenting the world-premiere musical American Prophet: Frederick Douglass in His Own Words, which kicks off the historic theater’s “Surviving and Thriving”-themed 2022/23 Season. Check out photos here!
Drumfolk is a feast for all of the senses, with an incredibly talented ensemble of artists.
Inspired by the Stono Rebellion of 1739, Step Afrika!’s critically-acclaimed Drumfolk will play at Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater from May 31 – June 26, 2022. Drumfolk will take center stage in the iconic in-the-round Fichandler Stage, kicking off a multi-year collaboration between the two arts organizations, while also bringing Arena’s 2021/22 Season to a close.

Arena Stage Artistic Director Molly Smith and Executive Producer Edgar Dobie have announced the 2021/22 lineup for the company’s 72nd Season. Arena is excited to welcome back audiences into our spaces and roar back with an ambitious, thrilling season packed with drama, humor, high-energy music and stories that bring us together.
Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater has announced a newly formed three-year partnership with Washington, D.C.-based dance company Step Afrika!. The partnership will begin in Fall 2021 as part of Arena’s 2021/22 Season and continue through 2024.
