THE LION KING Sets New Records In Korea

Presented by Michael Cassel Group and S&Co in association with Disney Theatrical Productions, the multi-award winning, hit Broadway musical will make its Seoul debut at the Opera Theater, Seoul Arts Center, 11 January 2019.

The early success of the Korean tour of Disney's THE LION KING musical shows the extraordinary production is still as timeless as it is universal. Over 50,000 tickets for THE LION KING sold in the show's first week on sale in Korea and following an amazing response in Daegu, where THE LION KING has achieved the largest audience for a single production in Korea's history, ticket ssales for the Seoul season have been unprecedented for an English language production in Korea. Only limited tickets remain for early performances.

"THE LION KING is in its 20th year and Tony Award winning director Julie Taymor and her creative team have brought together a truly global cast and crew for this tour, with 19 nationalities represented. We're thrilled the show is resonating so strongly with Korean audiences" said Thomas Schumacher, President & Producer, Disney Theatrical Productions.

"Korea is one of the most influential entertainment capitals in Asia, enjoying a great love of musicals" commented Michael Cassel, Producer of THE LION KING International Tour.

"We always knew we wanted to bring the show here with our partners at S&Co and the response from the Korean audience has been thrilling. As we enter our second year of touring, I am delighted that the show continues to be embraced by local audiences who are experiencing this phenomenal production for the very first time."

THE LION KING will play in Seoul until 28 March 2019. After Seoul, the international tour of THE LION KING moves to South Korea's second biggest city, Busan. The show will be the inaugural production at the city's new Dream Theatre - a 1,700 seat musical house which launches Busan as a new, major theatrical market in Korea. Tickets for the Busan season go on sale at the end of January. Further engagements of THE LION KING will be announced early 2019.
