Village Theatre Kidstage Announces Its Spring Line-up, Classes Begin Mid-April

Village Theatre Kidstage is proud to announce its spring line-up of exploratory and musical theatre classes, along with Spring Break camps for students of all ages. Some of these classes include ?Story Explorers? for children as young as Pre-K, a wide variety of dance classes?including yoga ballet and tap?and a ?Broadway Foundations? class that focuses its work around the music in the hit new musical Wicked. The majority of these classes begin in mid-April. Classes range from $145-$250 and parents can receive a 10 percent discount when registering more than one student from the same family or when registering for more than one class. One discount per family. Each registered student will also receive one half-price single ticket to any Village Theatre Mainstage production. STYX and REO SPEEDWAGON to Perform at ROCK OF AGES April 27

One month after their classic songs debut as part of the score of the new hit musical comedy, ROCK OF AGES, two unparalleled rock stars - Tommy Shaw from STYX and Kevin Cronin from REO Speedwagon - will make their Broadway debuts as they perform their new single, 'Can't Stop Rockin', immediately following the evening performance on Monday, April 27, 2009 at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre, 256 W. 47th Street). The performance of the new song, co-written by Cronin and Shaw, celebrates the rockers recently announced CAN'T STOP ROCKIN' 2009 Tour, which kicks off on May 12th, presented by VH1 Classic and Rock Band.

Review: 'Todd' Tour Triumphant, Now and Forever

The current national tour of the Stephen Sondheim/Hugh Wheeler musical 'Sweeney Todd' blew into the Windy City for a two-week engagement at the Cadillac Palace Theatre this week, revealing that the show is so strong as originally written that almost any style of storytelling will reveal its truths. If this fact doesn't mark the show as a true performing arts masterwork, then I don't know how anything else could. This show, and this metaphor-laden production of it, are miraculous in their revealing of the human condition.
