The T.J. Martell Foundation for Leukemia, Cancer and AIDS Research has announced that six-time GRAMMY winner and Multi-Platinum selling artist, Carrie Underwood will be honored at its 38th Annual Honors Gala on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 with the 2013 Artist Achievement Award. The gala will be held at the legendary Cipriani in New York. Underwood will join other honorees which include Jennifer Breithaupt, SVP of Marketing CITI (Spirit of Music Award), Brandon Steiner, CEO of Steiner Sports (Humanitarian of the Year Award), John Sykes, President of Clear Channel Entertainment Enterprises (Lifetime Music Industry Achievement Award) and Target Corporation (Spirit of Excellence Award). Tony Award winners Billy Crudup and Shuler Hensley will join Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart in the limited season repertoire of Harold Pinter's No Man's Land and Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot, directed by Sean Mathias, on Broadway at the Cort Theatre, 138 West 48th Street, this fall. Performances will begin Saturday, October 26 at 8pm. The official opening is Sunday, November 24, 2013. This limited season will run for 14 weeks only.
The Catskill Mountain Foundation (CMF) announced today the launch of its inaugural Orpheum Dance Festival at the new Orpheum Performing Arts Center in Tannersville, New York. The theater, designed by acclaimed theater architect Hugh Hardy, provides a rare combination of state-of-the-art proscenium dance stage with splendid acoustics. Stage West has announced the opening of a second performance space. The new Stage West Studio Theatre is located within the space which houses the group's offices and rehearsal hall, at 823 W. Vickery Blvd., and is a three-sided thrust stage, with seating for 61 patrons. The additional performance space will allow Stage West to offer its audiences productions which might not fit into its regular season, and could also be of use in its educational programs.

The Public Theater announced today that Tony Award winner Denis O'Hare has been cast as The Baker in Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's beloved musical INTO THE WOODS, directed by Timothy Sheader with co-direction by Liam Steel. INTO THE WOODS will be O'Hare's Shakespeare in the Park debut. Previews begin on Monday, July 23 at the Delacorte Theater and continue for five weeks through Saturday, August 25, with an official press opening on Thursday, August 9.
