LA Opera's production of Henry Purcell's Dido and Aeneas and Bela Bartok's Bluebeard's Castle, two riveting stagings of two disparate operas written more than two centuries apart that come together in a unique double bill, running for six performances from today, October 25 through November 15, 2014.

In the summer of 1918, as the Great War rages in Europe, two individuals wage their own battle against injustice in America, risking their lives for the right to marry. Winding up the 2014 Antaeus season of modern classics, Gregg T. Daniel directs a fully partner-cast revival of Wedding Band: A Love/Hate Story in Black and White by Alice Childress. Wedding Band runs today, Oct. 18 through Dec. 7 at the Antaeus Theater in NoHo, with low-priced previews beginning Oct. 9.

THE WORLD COMES TO QUEENS Exhibition Runs Now thru 8/31 at Moving Image

In celebration of the anniversaries of the 1939-40 and 1964-65 New York World's Fairs-both of which took place in Queens-Museum of the Moving Image will present an exhibit of films that were made for the fairs and which reflect post-World War II-era optimism and focus on American industry as central themes. The exhibit, The World Comes to Queens: Films from the 1939 and 1964 World's Fairs, featuring excerpts from six films, opens today and will be on view through August 31 in the Museum's Video Screening Amphitheater.

NY Philharmonic Opens Season with Yo-Yo Ma Gala Concert Tonight

Music Director Alan Gilbert opens the New York Philharmonic's 2013-14 season with the Opening Gala concert, headlined by cellist Yo-Yo Ma, tonight, September 25, 2013, at 7:30 p.m. Mr. Gilbert will conduct Mr. Ma and the Orchestra in two works by Argentinian composers: the World Premiere of Octavio Brunetti's arrangement, commissioned by the New York Philharmonic, of a suite from Astor Piazzolla's La serie del Ángel, and Osvaldo Golijov's Azul, composed for the eminent cellist. The program opens with Ravel's Alborada del gracioso and closes with Bolero, two pieces that reflect the French composer's fascination with Spain. The concert will be telecast nationally on Live From Lincoln Center at a later date, and Classical 105.9 FM WQXR at 7:30 p.m.

THE VOICE Contestant Cody Belew to Release 'Say Love,' to Fight World Hunger

April 1 will see many people falling victim to one prank or another, but Cody Belew, a contestant from NBC's THE VOICE is serious about hunger. Belew will release his new single, 'Say Love,' on April 1 to benefit the work of Heifer International, a global nonprofit working to end hunger and poverty.
