Producers Tom Kirdahy, Roy Furman, and Ken Davenport announced today that Broadway's record-breaking, star-studded smash hit It's Only a Play by 4-time Tony Award winner Terrence McNally, will extend, and with a new star: Tony and Emmy Award winner Martin Short will assume the role of 'James Wicker' originated by Nathan Lane, who departs January 4th to prepare for his upcoming performance in director Robert Falls' production of The Iceman Cometh at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in 2015.

John Douglas Thompson will lead a company of 19 actors playing 60 roles in the first major New York production since Broadway 1956 of Christopher Marlowe's 1587 epic Tamburlaine, Parts I and II, Jeffrey Horowitz, Founding Artistic Director of Theatre for a New Audience, announced. Directed and edited by Olivier Award-winner Michael Boyd, former Artistic Director of the Royal Shakespeare Company, Marlowe's two-part drama will be performed as one 3.5-hour play, plus a 30-minute intermission.

Chicago's most established resident theater presents a 90th anniversary "season to celebrate," a line-up of new and contemporary works on its two stages-the 856-seat Albert Theatre and 400-seat flexible Owen Theatre. Today, Artistic Director Robert Falls and Executive Director Roche Schulfer announced six plays (of eight)-half of which were developed by commission and/or workshop in the Goodman's new play development programs-that comprise the 2014/2015 Season, plus co-productions with Chicago's off-Loop theaters.
