Russian-American violinist Yevgeny Kutik, known for his “dark-hued tone and razor-sharp technique” (The New York Times), will launch a new commissioning and recording project titled Meditations on Family in 2019. Kutik has commissioned eight composers to translate a personal family photo into a short musical miniature for violin and various ensemble. He envisions the project as a living archive of new works inspired by memories and tradition. The first recording will be released on January 18, 2019, with one new piece coming out each Friday, and the full EP to be released on March 8, 2019, on Marquis Classics. The recordings were produced by four-time Grammy winner Jesse Lewis.

SYFY today announced a second season pickup of KRYPTON, the untold Superman story based on DC characters from Warner Horizon Scripted Television. KRYPTON, which has averaged 1.8 million viewers L3 per week to date, is SYFY's most-watched debut season among total viewers for an original series since Ascension in 2014, and the most-watched season for any scripted series on the network since Defiance in 2015. Opera's reigning queen of bel canto, Canadian-American soprano Sondra Radvanovsky, returns to the Canadian Opera Company this spring to close its 2017/2018 season with Donizetti's Tudor drama, Anna Bolena. Last performed at the COC in 1984, the opera captures the tumultuous final days of Henry VIII's second wife, Anne Boleyn, as she fights for her honour and her life. First Look images from the rehearsal rooms of Sting's The Last Ship have been released. Rehearsals for the production, which has a TONY-nominated original score and lyrics composed by Sting, are underway. It will play a 4-week season in Newcastle before embarking on a major UK & Ireland Tour.

McClatchy, a 2003 finalist for the Pulitzer Prize, to create an opera-oratorio based on the international bestseller 'Eleni,' about a woman's sacrifice to save her children during the Greek Civil War.
Principal casting has been announced for the UK premiere of The Last Ship the acclaimed musical by the internationally renowned musician Sting which will run at Glasgow's Theatre Royal from Monday 18 until Saturday 23 June as part of a major UK tour. The show will make its UK premiere in Newcastle in March.
