Puccini is one of Michelle Bradley’s favorite composers, and she’s in San Diego to sing his Tosca for the San Diego Opera company. We were originally scheduled to talk in person, but a rehearsal change meant Zoom was going to work better for an hour discussion.
“I'm happy to be back, and I know that everyone's happy to have me back because I've been treated warmly as always. They check up on me making sure I'm okay, and Southern California feels like a working vacation. After rehearsal I can have a nice walk any time of day. The ocean’s close, the mountains, beautiful views. I've made some great friends, and it’s a wonderful relationship to have. They seem to think I’m a star.”
Receiving key assistance from engineer Andy Taub, the Le Boeuf Brothers turned that thought into a reality. And working with first-class musicians and longtime friends—tenor saxophonist Dayna Stephens, bassist Linda May Han Oh and drummer Christian Euman—they produced a brilliant work of calm purpose.
We love our music here at BroadwayWorld Arkansas, whether it be in a big Broadway musical or a touring country act. I was ecstatic to hear that HOME FREE, which consists of Adam Rupp-beatboxer extraordinaire, Rob Linquist - smooth lead tenor, Tim Foust - with his sexy bass singing (HEY! any fan will agree with me), Adam Chance-another deep, dreamy baritone voice, and Austin Brown-the cute one who covers those high cascading riffs, is cruising through Arkansas once again, but this time they will be making two stops: TempleLive in Fort Smith on Wednesday, March 1, and Robinson Center in Little Rock on Thursday, March 2.
Something I have said many times is that I wish audience members would fully realize the amount of work and the amount of people it takes to put on a production. The things I have heard in theatre lobbies are both scary and laughable at the same time. Things like 'Oh, I want a chance to crash that chandelier. It's just one button!' or 'Wow, that didn't look hard at all. I could do that easily'. Well folks, working in theatre is not an easy profession. It comes with lots of stress and long days but if you have the drive and passion, it can be very fulfilling.
This revolutionary story celebrates the life of Sylvia Pankhurst – feminist, activist, pacifist, socialist, rebel – the lesser-known Pankhurst at the heart of the Suffragette movement, who changed the lives of working women and men across the world. So what did the critics think?

For those of Bobby’s readers who may have seen Billy’s movie in 1992 (all 1 of yo… Oh wait… they died) or those in NYC who went to see the show, you know as well as Bobby does (now) that this story is a gold mine of entertainment.
Nashville/Toronto singer, songwriter, and producer Billy Raffoul shares his vulnerable and lush new single, “I Wish You Were Here.” Accompanied by a gorgeous live video and co-written with Raffoul’s brother, Peter, “I Wish You Were Here” hinges on cinematic piano and soft harmonies. What did our critic think oHockadoo! MEMPHIS, The Musical, running at Candlelight through October 30, is a compelling show in many respects. Memphis is the story of Huey Calhoun (loosely based on real-life 1950s disc jockey Dewey Phillips) and his mission to bring blues and soul music to a white southern audience in a VERY segregated Memphis. Huey optimistically believes that music can transcend race, and with him on his journey is aspiring singer Felicia Farrell. The two fall in love, but must contend with social barriers, a prejudiced mother, and an overprotective brother. f MEMPHIS at Candlelight Music Theatre?
Siblings Skye and Callum love each other, hate each other, and need each other. Oh, and they can fly. A horror comedy that follows a bizarre, broken, and blisteringly brazen journey in reverse.
The opera El último sueño de Frida y Diego (The Last Dream of Frida and Diego) premieres in October at the San Diego Civic Center. I spoke with the work's composer Gabriela Lena Frank for more than an hour via Zoom while she was in Booneville, the rural area North of San Francisco where she lives. Although the opera is her first, her orchestral music has been performed by an impressive number of major orchestras including those of Cleveland, Philadelphia and Boston. And despite the challenge of a serious hearing deficiency from birth, she's produced music the New York Times described as 'brilliantly effective,' while the Los Angeles Times chimed in with 'glorious.'

A jukebox musical featuring songs from a plethora of country music artists, May We All has all the charm of a pedal-tavern powered by a dozen drunk “woo-woo” girls debauching themselves all the way down Broadway, while displaying all the emotional complexity and dramatic intensity of a rejected script from a Hallmark Network Christmas movie.
The collection's title is not only a reference to the wealth of self-confidence that lives in each of us but also a nod to where the set of five songs was recorded (and Flory's adopted hometown): “It's a title that encompasses the thematic stories found on the EP, but Fort Worth, Texas, was also once known as 'The Young Giant of the Prairie.'”
