The Lakewood Playhouse is proud to present FINAL SHOW of our 74th SEASON of PLAYS – Oscar Wilde’s timeless comedy of Love, Life and All of its Confusions “THE IMPORTANCE of BEING EARNEST.” The Play will be performed on Fridays, Saturdays at 8:00pm and Sundays at 2:00pm. Performances will be June 14th – July 14th, with Special Showings at 8:00pm on Thursday, June 20th (Pay What You Can Night) and 8:00pm on Thursday, June 27th (“Pay What You Can” Actor’s Benefit). Our Ticket Prices are $24.00 (General Admission), $21.00 (Senior/Military) and $18.00 (Students/Educators).

We are proud to announce that this show will debut Our Brand New “I” and “J” Sections of Seating which will feature our BRAND NEW CHAIRS!

Presented with views from all sides, in the Lakewood Playhouse’s unique "in the round" seating, this production of “THE IMPORTANCE of BEING EARNEST" will help you feel like as if you are "inside" the show!


ABOUT THE SHOW: In THE IMPORTANCE of BEING EARNEST, dashing men-about-town John Worthing and Algernon Moncrieff pursue fair ladies Gwendolen Fairfax and Cecily Cardew. Matters are complicated by the imaginary characters invented by both men to cover their on-the-sly activities—not to mention the disapproval of Gwendolen’s mother, the formidable Lady Bracknell.

Featuring actors both new, and returning, to the Lakewood Playhouse, we are proud to present this brilliant, timeless comedy filled with witty one-liners that span the decades. THE IMPORTANCE of BEING EARNEST will feature the acting talents of: BRYAN BENDER as John Worthing (The Lion in Winter), DEYA OZBURN as Gwendolen (Oliver!, Twelfth Night and The Children’s Hour), SYRA BETH PUETT as Lady Bracknell (The Lion in Winter and The Farnsworth Invention) and introducing LEE RYAN as Miss Prism, AARON SCHMOOKLER as Rev. Chasuble, MICHAEL SANDERS as Lane, TONY ONERATI as Merriman, CASSIE FASTABEND as Cecily and ANDREW KITTRELL as Algernon.

This show will also feature the Lakewood Playhouse debut of Director MARILYN BENNETT (Arts Professor at the University of Puget Sound).
